Apple reclaims world's leading brand crown from Google:Apple
The US-based computer giant was voted the most influential brand of 2004 in a survey of about 2,000 advertising executives, brand managers and academics, conducted by Brandchannel. The magazine's parent company, Interbrand, said that Apple Computer's re-dominance in the latest survey was driven by the iMac computer and the trend-setting iPod music players. The online search giant, Google, descended to the second position in the latest survey, after having held the top position in the past two years.

 Apple upgrades laptop line:
US computer company Apple has launched a new PowerBook line, featuring PowerPC G4 processors running up to 1.67GHz. Misc. Apple News

Misc. Apple News 03/14/2005 04:34 PM
There are many news items concerning Apple over the weekend, some good and some not so good. Let's throw them all in a one news article and see what happens.

Apple won round one of their court case to divulge the sources of the three online publications. There will be at least one appeal, but the foundation has been laid and a strong precedent has been set which denies journalistic rights to online publications and blogs. It's tough for Apple fans to see their company turning into another Microsoft where fiscal concerns over-shadow the people concerns.

On a high note, the best is getting better. In a surprise move, the next version of OSX, Tiger, is being rumored to have an April 15th release date. When I was at MacWorld in January, Jobs told us that Tiger would be out in Mid 2005. This would be sooner then expected. OSX is considered the Cadillac of operating systems and the improvements in Tiger will make it the OS to have.

We also seen another appearance of CherryOS, a Mac emulator for PCs. According to folks that have looked at the code in CherryOS, it has many similarities to PearPC. Best thing is to leave the dust settle before getting involved with this project.

On Friday Apple released Mac OS X v10.3.9, an update that "delivers overall improved compatibility and reliability" for all users. It's available for download through the Software Update system preferences pane and is also available for download from Apple's Web site.
