www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/01/08/galaxies.find/First,
NASA furnishes a fabulous tutorial about the big bang theory and the
evolution of the universe (1). Visitors can discover the foundation of
the big bang theory, the observational tests, and the limitations and
extensions of the theory. The second website, developed by Maxine
Phaisalakani at the University of Toronto, introduces in a slide show
presentation research that led to the discovery of the expansion of
the universe (2). The site addresses many astronomical concepts
including the big bang theory, dark matter, and the Doppler Effect.
Next, The Online Journey Through Astronomy offers educational
materials about studies leading to the discoveries of distant galaxies
and the expansion of the universe (3). The website supplies two short
animations illustrating the formation of the universe. The fourth
site, created by PhysicalGeography.net, provides an online chapter
about the past, present, and future of the universe (4). Students and
educators can find links to a useful glossary and a list of additional
readings. Next, PBS presents a timeline of the universe from the Big
Bang to the future (5). This interactive website offers concise
introductions to many of the key developments of the universe
including the formation of elements, the earliest life forms, and the
dark era. At the next site, the physicist, Patricia Schwarz, presents
numerous animations, illustrations, and text dealing with the Big Bang
Theory (6). Users can learn about the observations and knowledge that
provide the framework for the theory. Next, Meta Research discusses
hypotheses and assumptions about the big bang theory and the expansion
of the universe (7). Visitors can find out why some scientists have
qualms with the theorized phenomenon. Lastly, CNN provides an article
about a group of Australian scientists' findings of a new string of
galaxies that could challenge the big bang theory (8). Visitors can
learn how scientists use computer simulation models to test
astronomical theories. [From The NSDL Scout Report for the Physical

Oh good, rice for bikes! While ostensibly the Down Low
Glow from Fossil Fool is for safety, I think we all know what
the real purpose of these kits are - to siphon money away from filthy
Burning Man participants and/or gangbangers. But whether you're caked
in dried mud or just the shame of your own personal style choices, the
Down Low Glow can be yours for just $100.
Or you can spring for the two-light set for $150. Might as
well.

Car Shaped DVD Player
03/24/2005 04:51 AM
This Sports Car DVD Player made me guffaw for a
couple seconds, then I realized something dreadful: it costs 250
pounds, or "too many" American dollars. Sure, it has a 5" LCD, plays
DVDs and MP3 files, and even has a front bumper as a DVD tray. I even
recall seeing something along these lines at The Sharper Image or an
equally gimmicky establishment, but I don't remember if it actually
had a screen or not. Also, this player is "so cool it's almost
frozen!" Now I have to buy one.

Ladybug Shaped MP3 Player
Ladybug Shaped MP3 Player
04/08/2005 10:39 AM
Add "ladybug" to that list of bizarre MP3 player shapes.
Evergreen Corporation releases 128MB and 256MB models of the player,
which are polished to look like a real ladybug. The spots aren't just
for show, either — those are the buttons you use to control
play, pause and so forth. They're somewhat crappy as far as MP3
players go, with support limited to 256kbps playback and USB 1.1
transfer, but that's not a huge deal given the 256MB limit of space.
They will play music for about 5 hours after recharge by USB.

If you've longed to own a
computer case that looks just like a module from the International

provides you with a 3.2GHz P4, ATI X700 Pro, and 1GB of RAM. I think
it'd be something of a personal struggle against the temptation to
roll it back and forth across my desk, eventually rendering it a
tangle of wires and PCB, but for $1,500, it's the first
undecagon-shaped case I've seen. And so, you see, you get a piece of
trivia along with a decent system from Abit.
