When a content owner creates an audio or video stream, they can add script commands (such as URL script commands and custom script commands) to be encoded in the stream. When the stream is played back, the script commands can trigger events in an embedded player program, or they can open your browser and then navigate to a Web page. This behavior is by design

After applying the Update for Windows Media Player Script Commands (KB828026), some URL script commands do not fire even though they would be expected to do so. In addition to the URL script command issues, this package addresses an issue with the installer that would cause 100% CPU utilization in certain scenarios.

Mount Remote Folders in Windows

How to Create and Manipulate NTFS Junction Points: This is awfully handy. It allows you to map a drive, but map it to a local folder, instead of using a drive letter. So as you traverse your directory tree, you could drop into a remote folder that appears it be local. Very Linux-ish.

You can surpass the 26 drive letter limitation by using NTFS junction points. By using junction points, you can graft a target folder onto another NTFS folder or "mount" a volume onto an NTFS junction point. Junction points are transparent to programs.

(KB825116)
11/04/2003 11:37 PM
DirectX 9.0b was released on 7/23/03 to address the MIDI security issue identified in bulletin MS03-030. A small number of non-security fixes were also included in the release. One of these fixes caused several TV Tuner capture card/driver combinations using video formats other than NTSC (NTSC-J, PAL, SECAM) to no longer initialize correctly on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. Symptoms include loss of capture functionality and potential inability to set/retain device capture settings. This hotfix, documented further in Knowledge Base article 825116, has been issued to correct the flaw. 11-04-03 update: The English hotfix package has been modified to allow patching of all language installations supported by the affected Operating Systems.

RMS allows information workers to distribute information within their organizations and define how and under what circumstances it can be used, such as when it expires and who can open, modify, print and forward it. The ability to express and enforce document-level protection will allow organizations to internally share information more broadly, with less risk of inadvertent or intentional misuse.

The touch part works through windows, I mean, not just the light; that wouldn't be that impressive. Beyond that, it's pretty much just a regular screen, but it could be an interesting way to show off some of your products and answer simple questions even after the lights have been dimmed for the evening. For the £2,000 purchase price Data Vision will even install it for you, which is nice of them.

By default, Windows Small Business Server 2003 Client Setup deploys Windows XP Service Pack 1 to all client computers running Windows XP Professional. Microsoft has identified two issues that occur after Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is installed on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003. These issues are:

  • When you log on to Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) or Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access (OMA), you must include a domain name when you enter a user name. For example, you must enter domain\username instead of only username.

  • The monitoring tools in Windows Small Business Server repeatedly send a critical alert regarding store.exe consuming memory.

  • Installing this update resolves these issues in the following manner:

  • When you log on to OWA or OMA, you no longer need to include a domain name when you enter a user name.

  • The monitoring tools no longer send the critical alert. Instead, the Performance Counter called “store.exe Private Bytes” is disabled by default.

There is a problem with how the POP3 connector processes certain messages downloaded from a POP3 server. This problem could result in the POP3 connector accidentally re-sending certain messages to recipients who are not part of the SBS server e-mail domain. This may happen only in the cases where the POP3 connector is used to download mail from an external POP account. Customers using Exchange to host their mail internally will not experience this problem. This update resolves this issue. All SBS customers are encouraged to install this update.
