shipments of personal computers in the United States for the second
quarter of 2004. Apple ranks fifth on the list with a total of 495,000
CPU units shipped, or about 3.7 of the market -- trailing Dell, HP,
Gateway and IBM. Regardless, Apple's numbers show overall growth from
year to year, if a bit below the average of 10.9 percent.

06/05/2005 11:20 PMBeginning today, customers can bring iPods they no longer want to any
of Apple’s 100 retail stores in the US for free environmentally
friendly disposal, and those who drop off an iPod, iPod mini or iPod
photo will receive a 10 percent discount on the purchase of a new iPod
that day.
According to the Apple website, iPods received for recycling in the US
are processed domestically and no hazardous material is shipped
overseas. More details of Apple’s worldwide recycling programs are
