Prince Xizor,

11/17/2003 01:00 AMIt must have been a hard life for the
Imperial TIE Fighter
Pilot. Not only did today’s addition to the
Vintage Photo Archive
have to live without a name (or face for that matter) of his own, he
had to haul butt in a fast moving ball with two huge targets mounted
on its sides and try making it through a battle without the luxury of
shields of any kind. On a plus note, he did get to blow up defending a
giant space orb of evil that, by design, tends to be built
specifically to be inevitably destroyed by upstart rebels...

05/17/2004 02:54 AMContinuing our series of updates to our

one of the first figures.
Han Solo
(Stormtrooper Outfit) was available exclusively as a mail-in offer
from Kellogg's Froot Loops cereal beginning in the summer of 1995. And
because you can never have too many Stormtroopers in your action
figure army, look for the

Stormtrooper as well, one of the first Expanded Universe figures
in the line long before the term was even used.

06/18/2004 04:51 AMBefore we finish up our
Power of the Force 2
Photo Archives series of updates, we open up a new section of
unofficial
Bootleg figures.
Based on the early waves, these figures have bad paint jobs, incorrect
colors, and generic cardbacks. But they do make for a fun addition to
my collection. This gallery is by no means complete, and if the
interest is there, we may add more of these in the future.

POTF2 Photo Archives Update: Playsets
06/06/2004 12:32 AMToday's update in our
Power of the Force 2

days: playsets! Complete with action features, projectiles, and
footpegs to hold various 3¾" figures, collectors can re-create scenes
from the Classic Trilogy. Free the princess during the

Smuggler Flight

Jabba the Hutt,
flirting with
Princess Leia
on Cloud City, or just kicking back in the
Millennium Falcon

POTF2 Photo Archives Update: Droids
POTF2 Photo Archives Update: Droids
06/01/2004 10:32 AMToday's update to our
Power of the Force 2
Photo Archives focuses on the various mechanical beings found in the
Star Wars universe...Droids! They come in all shapes and sizes,
performing a variety of functions, and usually make life easier for
their creators. Protocol droids such as
C-3PO are
invaluable when dealing with aliens. Injured lifeforms can always
count on medical droids like
2-1B to speed their
recovery. The
ASP-7
Droid is equipped for menial labor, usually at local spaceports.
The RA-7 series
Death Star
Droid was mostly used for spying missions, along with the small
MSE-6 series "mouse droid." And every pilot needs a good astromech
droid, like
R5-D4, although it's
a good idea to check their motivators.

While we look forward to official confirmation from LEGO, it seems we

Rio Carbon: 5GB iPod Mini Fighter
08/02/2004 08:31 AM
As we talked
about this weekend, Rio has announced at least one new player, an
update to the Rio Nitrus called the 'Rio Carbon,' a 5GB hard
disk-based MP3 player with a killer 20-hour battery life (if that's
the sort of thing that slays you; the iPod mini does about 8 to 10
hours, for comparison). Interestingly, the Carbon also has support for
Microsoft's new DRM platform, Janus; to my knowledge it's the first
player that has.
The Rio Carbon should be available late August and will retail for
$250. Now where's the Rio Chroma announcement?
