Canadian Four Pack News

Canadian Four Pack News

Canadian Four Pack News 03/13/2003 10:26 AM

Though, as all toy related things at Toys"R"Us Canada, subject to changes and/or deletion, their computers are showing the Imperial, Rebel, Hoth, and Ultimate Bounty four packs. If these things do end up shipping here, in what will likely be Canadian packaging, they'll set you back $29.99 CND each. Not bad for four figures! Hat's off to Rebelscum reader Torrynn Farr for the tip and a big round of applause for Shane from Tattoos And Toys for the fine detective work.

Reassuring News For Canadian Collectors

Reassuring News For Canadian Collectors 06/16/2004 02:12 AM
While visiting a local collector store, I was given a quick glance at the Hasbro Canada Retail site. Showing along side the OTC and VOTC, were the Galactic Heroes two packs. Like the 3 3/4” assortments, the Preskool inspired line is being solicited for a July release and have a unit cost of $5.95CND each, which should work out to less than $10CND at retail. It is important to state that what Hasbro offers does not dictate what is actually order by retailers, so it is still up to Canadian collectors to ask their local retailers and collector stores to order these items.

We’ve been getting a lot of reports over the last couple of weeks about Canadian collectors scoring Revenge Of The Sith toys at Zellers stores across the country (except here in Vancouver. Typical.), but this one takes the cake. Rebelscum reader Jason from Toronto wrote in that he found all the LEGO sets pictured above at the East York Town Centre Zellers, but that isn’t the best part. It would appear as though the chain is preparing for the big event on April 2nd by clearing out all their older LEGO sets With a buy one, get one 50% off sale! This of course is including all the new stock their more illiterate employees are stocking the shelves with.

The Mad Canadian

The Mad Canadian 09/24/2004 12:02 PM
A man and his rocket car. As documentaries enjoy an unprecedented level of popularity and financial success, it's high time that an obscure Canadian National Film Board doc from 1981 was (re)discovered. The story of Ken Carter, who spends several years and millions of dollars of other people's money in the single-minded pursuit of one goal: jumping a jet-powered car across the St. Lawrence River from Canada to the United States. What is it with Canadians and insane dreams?

Canadian M&Ms

Canadian M&Ms 03/24/2005 08:27 PM
Seems that Canadian collector’s are once more in for a treat, and I don’t mean because we’ll be eating more M&M’s in the next month than most people do in a lifetime. Unlike the American equivalents, It looks like we won’t have to go out to find all Seventy-six different packaging variations to get a complete set, at least judging by the lack of a ‘Collect All 76!’ type of message on the bags. Judging by image above that Canadian collector extraordinaire Scott Bradley sent us, our assortment also lacks the foil that makes the American counterpart shiny and desirable, but with the bilingual text and alternate character placement the Canadian M&M’s have their own reasons to shine!

Canadian Election 06/09/2004 04:05 AM
Canada is having a general federal election on June 28, 2004. This article is a brief synopsis of the election, the election issues, and the Canadian political systems, aimed mostly at non-Canadians. People from other British or British-derived countries should find much of the introductory section ("The System") boring, as most British Parliamentary systems tend to work about the same.

Illegally imprison children for 13 years, make them do degrading things, deny them food to the point of degrading them further, force them as teenagers to wear diapers, tie them up, even give them mental problems! Get 9 months in a prison yourself. That's an expense rate of just about 17 : 1! Why not come to Canada and enjoy these exceedingly low rates today before they're gone?

It's cooler to be Canadian

It's cooler to be Canadian 03/11/2003 01:59 PM
McPaper, of all places, has an article about how American travelers in Europe are encountering strong anti-american sentiment. The article has some amazing quotes, like: If the past 100 years were widely considered the American Century, this new one is fast shaping up as the Anti-American Century.... A mother lode of goodwill fostered in the decades after the defeat of Nazi Germany has been reduced to dust in recent years. "Man, it was bad," says the Rat Pack-y star of Swingers. "These girls saw us and were kind of flirting, and they kept asking us if we were American. Finally we said, 'Yes,' and they just took off. " One girl turns and says, 'We were hoping you were Canadian.' Canadian? Since when was it cooler to be Canadian?" I can only hope that more Americans will travel overseas in the near future, so they will understand the price that we are paying for Bush's unilateralism and arrogance. The article concludes with: Tips for blending in Avoid American fast-food restaurants and chains. Keep discussions of politics to private places, not rowdy bars. Take a rain check on wearing clothes featuring American flags or sports team logos. Keep your passport out of sight. Soften your speech; Americans typically overshadow their hosts in the volume department. Via Boing Boing...

Just like our Mexican friends, Canadian toy collectors will be blessed with Revenge Of The Sith without those goofy action stickers, much to the obvious pleasure of this writer! Needless to say, with a variation such as this, many American collectors might end up interested in these figures just like they were with the Star Burst OTC figures. Thanks goes to Aaron from Toronto, who once more found a huge load of ROTS toys at his local Zellers.
