It is NOT Time for a Blogs TLD

It is NOT Time for a Blogs TLD 08/02/2004 03:53 PM
I when I read his post, I initially mistook the Aug 1 posting date for April 1st. Steve Rubel suggests that we need a .blogs domain. First of all, TLDs are generally singular (.com vs. .coms or .orgs or .nets and so on). But more importantly it's just a dumb idea. Sorry, Steve, but I can think of no better way to say this. A year or two from now, blogs will exist in a form that's different than today....

Video Blogs

Video Blogs 05/29/2004 09:36 AM

Is it time for Video Blogs, I sure would like to launch one as I travel all over the world and get to see and record all kinds of interesting stuff. But who would pay for the bandwidth you all have already forced me to increase my bandwidth allotment 4 times. If someone has a solution drop us a line. [w ww.alwayson-network.com]

David Weinberger video bl0gs response to
Cooper
08/01/2004 04:59 AM

David Weinberger video blogs a reply to Charl es Cooper's article at CNET.

Charles Cooper criticizes the credentialed DNC bloggers as bad journalists and David responds. If the text of his response had been in his post, I might not have watched the video, but after watching the video, I realized that it was worth it. I keep forgetting how funny David is in full motion. ;-)

I made a BitTorrent< /a> torrent of the 11MB Quicktime version of the post. The torrent is here. I'm still trying to debug my tracker so I'd appreciate comments about any success or failure you have with this torrent. Thanks!

All IP Video, All The Time At CES

All IP Video, All The Time At CES 01/05/2005 04:21 PM
Plenty of people were predicting that VoIP would be the big story of this year's CES, but from the number of announcements, it's looking like video is the story of the show. Every other company seems to be announcing some kind of IP video solution. Sometimes the focus is on the home, and sometimes it's more mobile. Then, there's a company with Video in their company name, but whose product doesn't seem to focus on video at all, but on making WiFi networks a bit more reliable (which, in truth, would be useful for... oh yeah... mobile video).

Video codecs battle for prime time.

Video codecs battle for prime time. 07/17/2004 04:19 PM
CNet: Video codecs battle for prime time. "Experts expect the biggest codec battle to be fought in the cable and satellite business, which has relied on MPEG-2 compression technology for more than a decade. The stakes are highest in this industry because the compression technology will help with the efficient delivery of billions of hours of content viewed every year and define the way people watch television."

Wondefule titles like "Mouth Pet" and "Back Frash" will have you screaming "Sweet Panch!" and "The Fuck!" in no time. I mean, really, you won't Beleaue Your Eyes.
