develops Linux application for Windows: This apparently isn't a
new thing, but it's making the rounds of the tech blogs this
morning.
The significance of the development is that Linux and
Windows are able to work in parallel on the same computer or server.
To now, the computer world is divided into systems that operate either
with Windows or with Linux.

paid for the study to prove this. You guessed Microsoft did.
Interesting read but I am sure that those of you that are hard core
Linux users will contest their results.
As a side note. The dedicated server that I have for this websites
has had pretty terrible reliability and requires re-booting every
couple of days. But a old die-hard Windows NT box that I have running
similar services for some other websites I have gets re-booted every
90 days whether it needs it or not. So thus far I am not drinking the
Linux Kolaid. [eWeek]

09/24/2004 03:41 AMA couple of months ago I enthused (some might say "gushed") about
Vintela Authentication Services, which enables you to efficiently -
and securely - manage a single logon/password for Unix, Linux and
Windows applications. In essence, it integrates the Unix and Linux
platforms into Windows' Active Directory. The boys in Linden, Utah
didn't rest on their laurels very long, though. Just last week came
the announcement of a new add-on to VAS - Vintela Group Policy, which
provides a framework for Unix and Linux policy-based management
through the Windows Group Policy system. All integrated, of course,
through Active Directory.

07/28/2004 04:30 AMYou've got a smooth running Windows network. Now some exec decides
that a Unix/Linux application has to be brought in as a
business-critical platform. Not that they know it's a Unix/Linux app,
just that they went to a conference and someone told them (or they saw
a presentation) and it was just the application your organization
needs to achieve some corporate goal. It just happens to only run on
Solaris or Red Hat or SuSE or AIX. You know that it's fruitless to
argue that introducing a non-Windows box will create some management
issues, some technical issues and, possibly, some security issues. The
only answer you'd get would be a directive to solve the issues.
