07/24/2002 12:49 AMThe Mono project will detail tools it has developed that will allow
programmers to build Web-based applications based on Microsoft's .Net
platform and execute those applications on computers that run versions
of the Linux and Unix operating systems, according to Ximian.
"tri" How do you think this affects PHP? I personally believe that PHP
needs stronger leadership and direction now, because if
Microsoft allows Mono to flourish, I think Mono is going to change the
way we program on all platforms. Java never moved me because I always
felt that other languages were unsupported - Sun said that Java was
open, but their minds were actually closed. In contrast, Mono (and
.NET) is language neutral and the feature set is attractive.

01/16/2004 11:32 AMRiyadh -- It was a small, one-day conference aimed at government and

few women attended, but in accordance with Saudi tradition they were
in a separate room, watching through closed-circuit TV. Two
easily-identified Microsoft trolls were also in the main auditorium
audience, asking the same questions Microsoft hirelings ask at open

headway.
