Joe Bussard is the self-proclaimed king of record
collectors (pre-war 78s, of course). He'll even
make you a tape. According
to Bussard, jazz died in 1933. Were the '20s America's golden age?

Myron Krueger began his pioneering work in interactive
art in 1969. He was one of the first to explore the aesthetics of
interactivity with his “responsive environments.” ¶ While
preparing a talk that included a reminiscence of Krueger demoing
Videoplace in the 80s, I was surprised he’d not
yet merited even a stub in the Wikipedia. While that may eventually
motivate me to register and start the page, for now, I will just share
some links. [more inside, including videos]

The Mouse BT
The Mouse BT
02/06/2005 03:24 AMI was in the drugstore picking up a prescription and wandered into the
computer section, where I found myself impulse-buying
The Mouse BT from some
outfit I’ve never heard of called DVForge. It’s Bluetooth and
looks like an Apple mouse, only it’s got two buttons (the way this
is accomplished seems to rely on bending acrylic in a really clever
way) plus a scrollwheel. It’s slick, slick, slick; and looks neat. I
bought the Aluminum model but now that I realise there’s a white
version too I think that would look better. On top of looking nice,
the scrollwheel is the smoothest I’ve used. I’m kind of worried
how fast it’ll go through batteries; I’ll report back when I know.

Do Not Touch That Mouse
Do Not Touch That Mouse
12/30/2004 04:39 PMWe've all seen examples of how various companies are attaching more
and more ridiculous "warnings" to products thanks to ever-present
product liability suits because someone didn't realize things like
that they shouldn't submerge their toaster in the bathtub they were in
at the time. While many of these are simply funny examples of "who
would ever actually
do that?" some new laws are creating some
absolutely bizarre warning labels. Take, for example, warning labels
that are showing up on certain computer mice in the state of
California. Thanks to regulations, some mice have warnings saying you
should
wash your
hands after handling them. The warning is specifically referring
to the cord, and the fact that it has a tiny bit of lead in it, but as
the article points out, unless the cord is broken up, you'd probably
have to
eat a fair amount of your mouse cord before you'd have
a problem from lead poisoning. Still, apparently, some users are
returning the mice, fearing for their safety.

06/17/2004 11:36 AMHere's an oldie-but-goodie. In 1999, the Iams Company publicly
released a list of their favorite "fun" (read: stupid) customer
service calls, including such provocative queries as:
• "I have trouble seeing what I'm scooping in my
yard. Can your food turn my dog's poop pink?" -dog owner, Ronkonkoma,
NY
• "When my dog pees, he leaves brown patches all over the lawn.
Is he peeing fire?" – dog owner, Covington, KY.

Some once
hypothesized that as pornography became more accessible and more
mainstream, men in turn would become uncontrollable, ravenous sexual
beasts. I always thought this myself: a man will see something in porn
that a real woman won't give him—Internet porn now caters in a click
to
every
fetish you can imagine—and he will find a way to get it.
My ex-girlfriend, observant and intelligent beyond her years, always
used to tell me the opposite: it wouldn't turn men into beasts, having
their way with every woman they saw. No, it would turn them away from
women completely, libidos and their ability to connect with
real females weakened by the hardcore acts and impossible
bodies that only porn stars could give them. The porn would crave some
intrinsic desire, but leave both people in the couple lonelier and
less fulfulled.
Now I think
s
he was absolutely right. Grok Description matches for DoCoMo vs. A Mouse That's Roaring
