The PCG-X505, which weighs a mere 785 grams and is just 9.7mm thick, is pretty much the lightest and thinnest laptop you can buy, and has a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 10.4-inch display. No built-in WiFi though, and most of the ports on it (like Ethernet and VGA out) have been pushed off onto a mini-dock attachment to save space. Apple may not have provided a live Webcast of Apple Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller's keynote address to attendees of this year's Apple Expo 2004 in Paris, France, but the company has posted a link to from its QuickTime home page. Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, took a cue from his boss, CEO Steve Jobs, as he unveiled one more thing at the end of his keynote to kick off this week's Apple Expo in Paris: a iMac G5 that includes the entire system inside a 17- or 20-inch LCD screen. Continuing the all-in-one theme that started with the original CRT iMac, the G5 edition features a new industrial design that complements Apple's recently refreshed Cinema Displays. Schiller said that the new iMacs will be available in mid-September.

The organizers of the Mac Design Conference and Apple have partnered to offer attendees of the Chicago-based conference a 10 percent discount on any product in Apple's North Michigan Avenue store. The discount starts tomorrow and runs through Saturday, June 5. Only registered conference attendees, who paid and participate in conference training, are eligible.
