Why Al-Qaeda wants President Bush to be
elected

Why Al-Qaeda wants President Bush to be
elected
07/21/2004 12:33 PM
Aaron Swartz presents three reasons why Al-Qaeda wants President Bush to be elected (or re-appointed).
1. Reuters reported a letter from an al-Qaeda group that said “it supported U.S. President George W. Bush in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader ‘more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom.

2. A top CIA expert on al-Qaeda has concluded that al-Qaeda loves President Bush, and might go so far as to plan an election attack to rally the country around Bush.

3. Even administration officials concede “al-Qaeda has morphed into a loose and expanding association of regional terror cells [and] the Iraq war has fueled rather than doused the fires of jihad.”

Bush blows cover of al-Qaeda insider 08/08/2004 12:22 PM
"After his capture he admitted being an al Qaeda member and agreed to send e-mails to his contacts," a Pakistani intelligence source told Reuters. "He sent encoded e-mails and received encoded replies. He's a great hacker and even the U.S. agents said he was a computer whiz." In its haste to get a scary headline the weekend after the Democratic Convention, did the Bush Administration deliberately blow the cover of one of its best informants within al-Qaeda?

Developer Rogue Amoeba announced the release of Audio Hijack 2.1.3 on Thursday. The new version of the company's tool for recording any audio on your Mac now keeps the computer awake while recording and adds performance enhancements and bug fixes. The company also made Audio Hijack Pro 1.3.1 available -- it offers an important fix for a bug created by Apple's June 7 Security Update. Both upgrades are free for all Audio Hijack and Audio Hijack Pro users. The full version of Audio Hijack is US$16, while the Pro edition, which adds such features as recording to MP3 format, is $30. Both require Mac OS X v10.2.7 or higher.
