The Secrets of Caterpillar Locomotion
05/13/2004 11:09 AMEurekalert is carrying a Tufts
University press release today describing new research into the
locomotion of soft-bodied insects like caterpillars. By studying the
nervous system and biomechanics of caterpillars the scientists hope to
learn how to build flexible (rather than jointed) robots. Caterpiller
robots could have applications such as crawling through human blood
vessels and organs. As part of the project, the Trimmer
Lab researchers are
subjecting caterpillars to MRI scans, biomaterial testing, 3D
kinematics
studies, electromyography, and hydraulic measurements. They hope to
have
a complete, physics-based computer simulation of the locomotion by
next
year.

Even dirtier iPod secrets
12/04/2003 02:27 PMResponding to the Neistat brothers, who launched a somewhat misguided
guerrilla anti-marketing campaign to spread the word that the iPod's
battery only lasts 18 months and is unreplaceable (neither of which is
exactly true), John Gruber has a several "alternative" slogans that
they could have stencilled instead:iPod’s “1-Year” warranty only lasts
12 months Where by “unreplaceable” we mean “somewhat difficult to
replace” The vast majority of two-year-old iPod batteries still work
just fine, but I’m extraordinarily perturbed about the bad luck I’ve
had with mine. iPod would almost certainly require a significantly
larger form factor to accommodate an easily-swappable battery. I’m so
fucking dumb I’ve not only videotaped myself committing criminal
vandalism, I’ve released the footage publicly.Read [Via OnlineBlog]...

There's an a href=http://go.lockergnome.com/527AdSense eBook/a

that's because I know if you read it, you'll make 100x as much with a

a few more ideas I'm kicking around, including doing an AdSense
afternoon seminar up here in Seattle. I'll keep you posted. Until
then, read the eBook:
