<oXygen/> XML Editor [Ted Ritzer: BizBlog]

<oXygen/> XML Editor

The simple and elegant look of the <oXygen/> XML Editor combined with the complete coverage of the XML editing features have made it popular in both the corporate and academic worlds. It provides the necessary tools for the document creation and presentation.
The documents can be created and validated against any user defined schema. The smart context sensitive editing saves time and guarantees a minimum number of validation errors. The documents can be published in a wide range of formats including HTML, PDF, PostScript using the built-in or external processors. Developers can use <oXygen/> for authoring document schemas and for editing the XSL stylesheets needed for the presentation layer. The integration with the document repositories is made through the WebDAV and FTP protocols.

MIT: Project Oxygen
http://www.oxygen.lcs.mit.edu/

MIT's Project Oxygen designs computer systems that are more "human-centered" than current systems that "have required us to interact with them on their terms, speaking their languages and manipulating their keyboards or mice." The project title alludes to the group's goal of "bringing abundant computation and communication, as pervasive and free as air, naturally into people's lives." This means developing a system that is pervasive, embedded, nomadic, adaptable, powerful, yet efficient, intentional, and eternal, according to the website These criteria are met using device, network, software, perceptual, and user technologies, all of which are described on the site. Several possible applications are presented in terms of hypothetical situations where this type of system would come in handy. Demonstration videos allow visitors to view a sampling of some of the technologies being tested by Project Oxygen researchers and their industry partners.[From The NSDL Scout Report for Math, Engineering, and Technology, Copyright Internet Scout Project 1994-2003.

I have been loosely following activities at the ISS but over the past month they have been having some troubles with their Russian Oxygen Generator. They have had the thing tore apart and had it partially running but they have had to re-pressurize from the progress several times. Seems to me it is time get the lead out and get a shuttle up their with a load of supplies and get the station back on track. [Spacetoday]
