“Safety Device”
03/31/2005 08:57 AMThe ability to make an emergency call has been given as the top reason
for taking a cell phone when traveling, according to a survey by
Mobal, the international phone company. Mobal conducted the survey of
its customers after reporting an 80% increase in international cell
phone purchase during 2004, and believe the results show that US
citizens, although still concerned with global instabilities, are
increasingly confident to travel internationally. [PRWEB Mar 31, 2005]

Just when things could not get more weird, iTunes is coming to a
Motorola cell phone near you. A bizarre creation from some the folks
at Motorola and Apple, iTunes for the cell phone will include
it’s own media player and some of the most annoying ringtones
known to man. (The latter is a bit of speculation, but I bet you I am
right on the money.)…

07/02/2004 01:22 AMKim Komando did a nice article on buying camera phones recently. She
discusses the importance of checking out the quality of the phone by
reading reviews and being selective when choosing a wireless carrier.
She then goes on to advise that you “try it before you buy
it”. Snap some photos to see how the images turn out. Her
message is clear as she explains that you need to know what to expect
from your carrier and what features you are wanting from your phone.

door-to-door directions for any metropolitan area. You plug the
included card reader into a Mac, download the desired metropolitan
area onto an MMC card and slide the card into a compatible cell phone
to obtain routes. You can search for locations by address, street
name, nearby point-of-interest or fuzzy logic or by simply tapping on
the map. You can also pan and scroll across the map and zoom between
different levels of detail, with thousands of points-of-interest --
including gas stations, landmarks and banks -- already built in.

broke the 1.5 billion subscriber mark worldwide. Research firm EMC

"New research from Mobile Youth - a mobile telecoms consultancy -
found that 700,000 (20%) of primary school children own mobile phones
and that the under 10s "represent the fastest-growing segment of
mobile phone ownership within Britain".
'They are the key fashion accessory which no self respecting child
can do without,' says the report. It predicts that by 2006, more than
one million primary school kids (a third of all five-to-nine year
olds) will own mobiles." [The

"Textual @traction is a new film about text messaging which has
been selected to compete for Best Short Film, Best Foreign Film and
Best Drama, at this year's Los
Angeles International Short Film Festival, reports icWales.
The film centres on a young man who finds a lost mobile phone and
starts replying to text messages from a mystery stranger.
What makes the film unique is that the audience does not actually
get to see the messages on screen. Instead, by pre-registering, they
receive the texts to their own phones at the same time as the
characters on screen." [textually.org]
