As you surely noticed, Fink has a logo. This is the result of our Logo contest held earlier this year. This new, official, logo has been displayed since the 24th of October and those of you who wondered how it has been picked and what the name of the winner is should read up in the PR section. The longer explanation also features a larger version of the logo itself, so that you may have a closer look at its details. We like our new logo, we hope that you will like it too. IMPORTANT: We do not yet have a formal licensing agreement for the new logo and so are unable to give permission to distribute it. Currently, it can only be displayed on the Fink web page. Thank you for your understanding.

It was Tim who got the official statement from the marketing geeks:

It has been brought to our attention that several unauthorized, sexually suggestive advertisements portraying the PUMA brand have been released over the Internet. We are appalled that images like these would be created and distributed under the PUMA name. As a brand, we seek to take a unique perspective toward our advertising in an effort to challenge the boundaries of our industry; however we would never consider using these tactics. We are in the process of researching the circumstances and reserve any legal steps available.

Interesting piece on current trends in logo design (merging blobs, swooshes, pop-art finneals, the color green, wireframes, etc). Though it strikes me that, given my penchant for dinstinctiveness in logomarks that I would be liekley to use this as a crib-sheet for critiquing the logo-development undertaken by my design-firm: "Dude, a green wireframe swooshy pop-art blob? That is so played-out. I want the new-new." Or, as Ian McDonald put it in his brilliant novel, Out on Blue Six:

KennerToys.com have posted three PDF files you can download regarding Celebration III show hours, floor plans, booth prices and so much more. The interesting thing is that additional vendor passes cost $90 on pre-order and $105 at the event. Vendor passes for Celebration II were the same price as a three day pass. So it looks like this will be the price range for a typical four day pass to Celebration III.

Over and over again we get emailed the question about the next Star Wars Celebration. While Lucasfilm still has yet to officially announce the Celebration 3, we can give you an update on what we know so far and it fits with rumors others like starwarz.com are hearing as well. What we keep hearing is that Lucasfilm should announce it quite soon - hopefully no later than just after the holiday break at Lucasfilm. We certainly hope January is the time for the official announcement at the latest. And yes, the location again is Indianapolis, IN and the date that keeps surfacing is April 22-24, 2005. We've heard that the next issue of the Star Wars Insider will also carry the announcement, but we expect it to be trumped by the Official Site as an exclusive there. So don't make travel plans and reservations yet, but expect the mad dash to begin shortly after the announcement.
