Billionaires for Bush is "a grassroots political action committee advocating for the rights and interests of people of absolutely fabulous wealth." Funny, and too close to reality for comfort...

BlogShares - Gadgetopia: Our share price has gone through the roof at Blogshares. I have no idea why or how this happens, but an outgoing link from us is worth $25K these days. I think that's good.

Actually, this graph is a little misleading since it starts at $800, so the increase is actually about 25%, not the 500% it looks like. However, our total valuation looks good, though I haven't the first clue why, or why we peaked then fell a while back. If anyone knows the mechanics behind this, speak up.

From the capital of an oil-rich
nation...
01/07/2004 04:23 PM

This item comes to you from an Internet cafe in the capital of a country that is

  • oil-rich
  • still smarting from the pain of a U.S. invasion
  • throughout its history has seldom enjoyed a government elected by the people
  • lacking in basic physical security, except in a handful of areas patrolled by guys wearing body armor and toting machine guns
  • not somewhere you can turn on the kitchen faucet and expect drinkable water to come out

Does this sound like a crisis?  Actually it is normal everyday life in Mexico City and somehow nobody seems to mind.

Rich Internet Application (RIA)

Rich Internet Application (RIA) 05/20/2004 06:58 AM
Rich Internet Application (RIA)
http://www.cmswiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=RichInternetApplication

A Rich Internet Application (or RIA) uses a proprietary client instead of the web browser as the front end for a Server Side software application program or MiddleWar e. The result is a desktop-quality User Interface and application functionality. An RIA allows the website to provide services to visitors, but these should not be confused with Web Services or Service Oriented Architectures, which provide services to other application programs. The RIA depends on the new generation of browser development tools like Macromedia Flash, with its ScalableVectorGraphics?, or Microsoft's Avalon/XAML, or perhaps Mozilla XUL (XML-based User Interface Language).
