Kid
Rock to play their inauguration bash after their father is sworn

extol drug and alcohol abuse. (The link has actual lyrics from Rock,
so if you are offended by cursing don't follow it.)

It works pretty well now that I got a good GUID
scheme down and parsed out the dates properly. Cap it at 500
lines, run it every ten minutes ... I can monitor remote machines in
situations where I could not be the syslog delegate.
Trés nice.

06/22/2005 02:54 AMNot feeling too good. So the best way to combat it is to try and make
a three-pane layout for the blog on the couch while waiting for
Survivors to begin. Hope it works; it ain't too complicated. Notice
also the new link icon on the right, if you want to link to my blog.
I also included a list of my latest pictures from Flickr. Today, I've
mostly been in the Helsinki Samba Carneval...

British artist (previously

from
sheep in

hasn't gotten any cheerier - "The Devastating Impact of Crack
Cocaine" is downright frightening. Slightly more accessible is
"Six Pills," which is reminiscent of his
Pharmacy installation.

Survey Says, US Net Surfers Bored Of
Taking Online Surveys
04/05/2005 04:42 AMAccording to a study released by Nielsen/Netratings,
Americans spent
2% less time online in March than they did a year ago. Is there
reason to be alarmed? Not really. In order for this data to be truly
useful, we need see the amounts of time spent online broken down by
tasks and have comparative metrics for their offline counterparts.
Something like: taking online surveys (down 2%), reading email (up
9%), deleting spam (down 11%), surfing the web (up 13%), surfing the
ocean (down 3%), working at the office (down 10%), spending time with
kids (up 17%), and making sure you're up on the latest pointless
statistics (up 13%). It's not that statistics aren't important, it's
just that 50% of all statistics are made up anyway.

How many webl0gs are there in the UK?
12/09/2003 10:54 AMRight. For a whole range of reasons, I'm getting increasingly
interested in finding out how many weblogs there are in the UK. If we
could demonstrate that a large number of UK-based webloggers exist,
then it could have a whole range of effects: it could encourage
publishers to find constructive ways to engage with the community,
could encourage UK-based people/companies to get more involved in
building weblog-based software (or to spend time thinking around Denton-esque micro-publishing
ventures like Gawker, Fleshbot and Gizmodo). All kinds of stuff.
Now there's no really useful way of effectively measuring these
things, but it occurs to me that we'd probably be able to motivate a
good number of people to make themselves known as weblogers if
everyone who read this post stuck up a mention/plug for one or more of
the major geographical portals onto their sites. So I'm going to
wander off now and check that I'm listed on:
And please - if you've got ten minutes and are interested in
helping to uncover the lost continent of UK webloggers out there, then
stick something on your site about this too.
