This is a n ice little hint from Mac OS X Hints — you know those little sheets that slide out from document windows when you save or print? They appear in Cocoa apps like TextEdit, Mail, iPhoto etc. You can speed things up by changing the defaults setting with this command : defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSWindowResizeTime .001 Now, instead of waiting for the window to slide out, it instantly appears and disappears, letting you get on. Eye candy is nice, but sometimes you just wanna get stuff done quickly and easily.

XDR RAM is going to be fast. I predict even more unneeded processor cycles in my near future.

Toshiba is lining up the world's fasters memory chips. Testing has begun and they should be on sale in the second half the year, the company said. The 512MB XDR (extreme data rate) DRAM chips run at 4.8GHz - about 12 times faster than typical desktop PC memory.

Even better, Samsung and Elpida are on route to deliver the new chips in around the same time-frame—just in time for use in the Playstation 3, in fact. (Thanks, Luke!)

I've been a big fan of SitePoint for a number of years and it's great to finally have contributed something to the site. The article discusses two methods of building useful Javascript effects on top of well structured markup and is based on my easytoggle and blockquote citations experiments, both previously featured on this blog.
