Making Sense of Programmable Logic

Making Sense of Programmable Logic

Making Sense of Programmable Logic 03/06/2004 02:03 AM

O'Reilly Network has reposted an article, called Making Sense of Programmable Logic, that provides a nice introduction to programmable logic. It covers the blurring line between hardware and software and gives an overview that includes CPLDs, FPGAs, VHDL, and Verilog. Since the article was originally published in 1999, a whole Open Source hardware design community has evolved that includes the Free Model Foundry, OpenCores.org, and Open Collector, which provides release announcements for programmable logic and other Open Source Hardware.

Rumsf eld fears U.S. losing long-term fight against terror. The troubling unknown, he said, is whether the extremists -- whom he termed "zealots and despots" bent on destroying the global system of nation-states -- are turning out newly trained terrorists faster than the United States can capture or kill them. "It's quite clear to me that we do not have a coherent approach to this," Rumsfeld said at an international security conference. Who are you and what have you done with Rumsfeld? And Can you do it some more? via the illustrious oliver willis.

It seems that amidst the glee and anticipation of next week’s Macworld Conference will be a horde of angry Mac users, hell-bent on exposing the display problems and logic board failures that have plagued the final revision of Apple’s G3 iBook line. Concerned hams question amateur radio
choice of closed code and controller
06/07/2004 04:09 AM
Amateur emergency radio is all about helping out, quickly, dependably, and without charging fees, in a time of need such as terrorist incidents and natural disasters. Now some ham radio operators, who have evolved from a network of high-tech hobbyists to a Federal Communications Commission-regulated radio service, are worried that a recommendation for proprietary software and hardware for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) may close out communications and communicators.
