TechTV has a HOWTO for modifying a disposable camera into a stun-gun:
These disposable cameras (about $5 dollars a pop) have a capacitor that can store up to 600 volts of stopping power. When the capacitor discharges those volts, it delivers an amperage comparable to stun guns. Perfect for our shocking device.

Disposable Digital Camera

Disposable Digital Camera 08/19/2004 08:17 AM

A disposable digital camera enters the market at $19.99: I couldn't find any information on how many pictures it holds, but $20 is is steep for disposable anything.

Pure Digital makes the world's first truly digital one-time-use camera. It has been on the market for more than a year but is slated to go prime time Monday when CVS, the nation's largest drugstore chain, puts it on its shelves. The Disney World resorts and Longs Drugs will be selling it later this year as well.

Pure Digital is a $19.99 digital camera, with a color preview screen and the ability to delete pictures. After you bring it in for processing, you get a free picture CD along with your prints.

The Walgreens-branded PureDigital camera is a "disposable" digital cam, requiring that you bring the device to a Walgreens to have your pix "developed" (printed and/or exported). A hacker has cracked the device, so that you can add Smartmedia memory and export pictures to your PC at home, reusing the camera.
you will see there is a daughter board on there with the nand flash for picture storage .. if you remove that board you can add a smartmedia socket and using smartmedia card you will be able to get the pics with a smartmedia reader standard jpg's but it will not do more that 25 pics still (think its using fat12)..

Banks Finally Pushing Disposable Credit
Card Numbers

Banks Finally Pushing Disposable Credit
Card Numbers
05/10/2004 01:30 PM
It's only taken them a few years, but it appears that banks and credit card companies are finally realizing that maybe (just maybe) it would be smart to promote their disposable credit card number offerings. Many have offered such services for a while, but most people still don't know about them. They let online shoppers generate a "disposable" credit card number that can be used for a single-time purchase (or only in association with a single vendor), without fear that your actual credit card number will be exposed. If someone does get the number, it won't work, since it's already been disposed, or won't be in association with the specific vendor. Still, as the article points out, American Express has gone in the other direction, and has shut down its own disposable credit card number program saying there are plenty of other security safeguards (there are?). Meanwhile, others like Privacy Inc. think that it shouldn 't be the banks that are managing your info anyway.

(ENT2.0 mod RSS1.0) = 0.
Time for ENT 2.0?. It's very interesting to read Danny's toughts about ENT and RSS 1.0. Maybe it's time for a new release of the ENT specs, RSS 1.0 compatible. Oh... and what about Atom?
[Paolo Valdemarin: Paolo's Weblog]

I've certainly thought about things which, with the benefit of hindsight, I would have done differently.  I was never comfortable with having the topic name as the text content of the <topic> element and I've no idea why I did it, there are other bugbears in there too.

I'd also like to give more thought as to how ENT feeds can be supported by topic map resources in real applications.  At the moment we don't publish XTM or XFML maps out of K-Collector but we could (I used to publish XFML from liveTopics but those files got big!)

Lastly I would really like to make a push for ENT support in other applications.  It seems a shame to me that, more than a year on, no other applications seem to have picked up on the benefits topic based aggregation offer to users.
[Curiouser and curiouser!]

Right on to Paolo and Matt!

Here we go!

I highly endorse using ENT as a way of us all standardizing on attaching keywords to RSS feeds.  On both sides.

We've writt en about Magnatunes and the Creative Commons a few times before, so yet another article on Magnatunes and the Creative Commons isn't all that interesting. However, this one makes a very good point which is worth repeating. The article asks, if people can get their music for free, why would they bother paying for CDs. The response, which Magnatunes founder basically tells them, is that they're asking the wrong question. People are already downloading music for free, and thus, the recording industry needs to figure out a way to adjust to that reality. The original question (what happens if people can get their music for free?) is like asking "but, what happens to buggy makers when automobiles are around?" The answer seems obvious to everyone, except those involved in the recording industry: they adapt or die. The recording industry is so focused on what they want to happen, that they've missed what's actually happening. The article also suggests that, so far, Magnatunes is doing quite well, and has the potential to be a viable longterm business - based on the idea of giving away music as a promotional good.

Cory Doctorow: Two stun-gun manufacturers will add video-recorders to the next generation of their guns, for forensic purposes.
The video cameras will essentially record whenever a person is hit with one of the guns, which immobilize a victim by shooting massive amounts of electricity through them. The electricity does not kill or permanently damage a person hit, according to the companies, but being hit hurts quite a bit.
