Heralds Growing Momentum For Windows
Mobile and Embedded Platforms
06/29/2004 07:09 AMToday at Microsoft Corp.'s third annual European Mobile Developer
Conference (DevCon), co-located with Tech•Ed Europe 2004, Microsoft
joined industry partners to showcase new hardware and applications for
mobile devices, and introduced enhancements to its mobile platform
designed to increase flexibility for application developers and extend
the functionality of the Microsoft® .NET Compact Framework. In
addition, the company announced the following:

Many People Ready To Go Mobile Only,

06/24/2004 01:01 PMLetsTalk (who is hardly an unbiased party) has come out with a study
showing that, if coverage were a little better and prices were a
little lower,
a large percentage
of them would be willing to ditch their landlines for mobile
phones. Basically, what they're saying is "if my mobile phone
works as well as my home phone, sure I'd ditch my landline." This
isn't all that surprising, though, the folks behind the study
obviously want to make it seem like it's big news. The more
interesting aspect of the study may be the footnote in the article
claiming that not too many people are interested in wireless
broadband. The study found that only 8% said they wanted wireless
broadband, which is probably meaningless. It's a situation where
they're first talking to people about their mobile phones, and then
switching gears and asking about wireless broadband. Many people, in
that context, will respond negatively -- thinking that they don't need
broadband
on their mobile phone. However, the power of
wireless broadband has very little to do with mobile phones. It's
also a technology that most people have little experience with, and
those are the types of technologies where asking people if they want
them beforehand will give you a very different response than if you
actually offer the technology and see how people use it. In the end,
what will drive wireless broadband usage isn't "wireless broadband,"
but the applications that make wireless broadband valuable. This
study didn't ask about that.

Mobile Phone Location Services Ready for
Rebirth (Reuters)
05/27/2004 07:50 AMReuters - The use of a mobile phone to pinpoint
a caller's location and nearby businesses was a hot concept
when the tech bubble peaked in 2000, but only now with better
phones and software does it stand to succeed, companies say.
Mobile operators are selling much-improved services that help
users locate friends or get directions to the nearest train
station, but they have to fight off consumers' bad memories
from 2000 and 2001, when they offered illegible maps on tiny
black-and-white screens.

02/07/2005 01:05 AMVisit http://iwxchange.com to download free. Microsoft, Cisco, IETF
included will be very surprised 'good old ' Internet's underlying
TCP/IP protocol itself can now more successfully do for PSTN quality
VoIP / Multimedia instead of current QoS/MPLS cumbersome attempts. Dr
Bob Kahn had somehow perhaps foreseen something like this in his
recent interview: ' ...something far bigger than existing Internet may
jiust as easily again emerge ...just like Internet itself
originally...from totally unexpected quarters...' We are looking for
worldwide technology partners, country & regional reseller ( 50/50
royalty share ). There will be many immediate companies adopting
straight away, saving multimillion pounds & 6 months on QoS/ MPLS
hardware/ softwares. [PRWEB Feb 6, 2005]
