As eagle-eyed
reader Thomas Shebest pointed out to me, it looks as if Apple has
removed the Mini (car) from its BMWYourIpod page. Either the Mini
isn't supported any longer, or, more likely, someone within BMW's
marketing department didn't want to dillute the Beemer brand with
their low-end cousin. Whichever -- it's still been removed from the
site.

03/31/2005 07:35 PMGriffin Technology Inc. on Thursday announced the release of their
AirClick Remote for iPod and iPod mini, a remote control designed, as
you might have guessed, to work with Apple's iPod and iPod mini. The
AirClick Remote is different from most iPod remote controls because it
works using Radio Frequency (RF) technology instead of infrared, so it
doesn't require a line of sight to the iPod and can operate up to 60
feet away, according to Griffin. It's shipping now for US$39.99.

What's cooler than hanging with your fellow iPod users on Miami's
South Beach on September 1st? How about going home with a brand new
iPod mini in your pocket?
Yeah, that probably got your attention. But thanks to event sponsors
iPodResQ, the iPod mini is just one prize among many that we'll be
giving away at the South Beach iPod Garage Party. So what do you have
to do to win? All you have to do is show up with your iPod, connect it
to our sound system, and play "DJ" for twelve minutes as you share the
highlights of your own music library with the rest of us (as many
songs as you like, as long as it fits within the time limit). Yep,
it's your very own twelve minutes of fame.

iPod, iPod mini
08/13/2004 07:17 AMGriffin Technology has introduced
RoadTrip, a 3-in-1 device that provides an FM transmitter, charger and cradle
for all dock-capable iPod and iPod mini MP3 players. The transmitter
broadcasts your music on any FM frequency on your car stereo, with a
backlit display that shows which frequency is in use, while the
charger keeps your iPod's battery at full capacity. The RoadTrip plugs
into any 12-volt outlet or cigarette lighter in your car and its
transmitter unit can be removed and plugged into a USB port on your
computer, enabling music broadcast from it to any nearby FM stereo.
Griffin has left the top of the US$79.99 device open for use with
other iPod accessories, which means RoadTrip isn't compatible with the
1G and 2G iPods that have FireWire ports on top.

iPod Mini at Walmart
02/05/2005 09:16 PMOh great. Walmart is selling
iPods.
Just think... Now you can — in one easy stop — get your
oil changed, pick up groceries, the latest DVD release, a low-cost
Lindows laptop, a fresh pack of underwear, a 100lb bag of dog food, a
Schwinn Stingray bike
for your kid's birthday, and buy an iPod. And oh so much
more.
Good Lord Almighty, what's next? Mac Mini's at BestBuy? Oh wait;
that's already happened!
Actually, I think getting Apple products into more non-Apple stores
will do wonders to broaden the user base and help people better
understand the Mac. What I don't get is Walmart selling iPods —
which are portable little iTunes Music Service billboards — when
they have their own online music service. And given all the reasons to hate Walmart, why would Apple want to deal with them
in the first place?

Google Gets the Picture
07/16/2004 01:20 PM“Google’s busy these days as the company pursues its IPO,
fights mounting competition with Yahoo and Microsoft in the search
arena and rolls out new features like Browse By Name. However, Google
still found time to acquire digital photo management company Picasa to
improve photo publishing on Google’s Blogger service (also a
recent acquisition from Pyra Labs).”Read more…Google
certainly isn’t wasting any time while readying for their IPO.
They now have a complete chain from their Blogger.com blog site to the
Hello! software that allows users to post photo blogs to the Picasa
software that lets the users organize and manage their photo
collections. On the interesting question side is this: Every previous
link in the chain is free- will Picasa now become free as well? I
think that this may or may not happen. It would ‘annoy’
current users who have had to pay to register the application and I
don’t suppose they want to tick off their customer base unless
they offer some significant compensation- shall we say a share or two
of Google stock?Well, that’s just an idle thought, but one that
I suspect would pacify even the most annoyed…

09/16/2004 11:01 AMOK - so I'm sitting here in paris - with an extra moment - so I
dipped my toe back into the blgosphere long enough to catch Jay
Dedman's rap on "How to make life easier explained very clearly".
I dig what he's saying and pointing to - but I can't help but
wonder how this post would be different if Jay used a combination of
thumbnails grabbed from video clips - linking to those video clips -
to talk about enclosures, subscribing to and creating video blogs.
Shouldn't we be eating our own digfood?
Shouldn't a video blogger use video blogging to describe video
blogging?
It's one thing I haven't seen done yet - which is a consistent
combination of thumbnail - which links to a clip - used in blogging
gesture.
If so - I bet a bunch more people would click on thsoe video blog
links.
So here's Jay's post.....
There's so much on the web...that knwoing how to look at what you
want is difficult.
Especially when video starts popping up everywhere.
So you start trusting certain places to keep track of the good stuff
for you.
You do this by signing up, for free, with a subscrition service like
Bloglines or Feedster.
Almost every blog and many websites have an RSS feed that you
subscribe to.
You just enter the URL in your subscription service and wait.
New posts will show up...all in one place.
HERE is a simple explanation of RSS.
But we're taking this idea step further...how will video be read by
the RSS reader?
When video starts popping up everywhere, it'd be cool to get new
videos just pop up on my computer as they're posted.
This happens with "enclosures".
I know...I know...I'm also learning how all this works too....
but Dave Winer explains the concept beautifully here.
Enclosures in RSS
feeds made easy
> What if, in the middle of the night, while I'm not using my
computer, it
> downloads huge video and audio stuff to my local hard drive. Then
> when I arrive in the morning there are fresh bits, news clips, a
song
> of the day, whatever, provided by all kinds of content providers,
from
> big TV networks like CNN and MSNBC, to a Dutch school where kids
> are taking a film class using inexpensive video recorders and
iMacs.
And HERE
a> is also a good explanation.
What is needed now is this "RSS aggregator" that downloads your
audio/videos feeds overnight.
This way you could just wake up and hit "play" on your TV and it'll
all come to you.
as far as I know no one has made one yet.
I hear rumors....
