Marvel Universe looks almost like a real social network: "We investigate the structure of the Marvel Universe collaboration network, where two Marvel characters are considered linked if they jointly appear in the same Marvel comic book. We show that this network is clearly not a random network, and that it has most, but not all, characteristics of 'real-life' collaboration networks, such as movie actors or scientific collaboration networks. The study of this artificial universe that tries to look like a real one, helps to understand that there are underlying principles that make real-life networks have definite characteristics." Intel's Tablet PC Centrino Surfboard 06/17/2004 10:06 AM

intelsurf.jpg imageI don't know what to say. Intel has gone and taken the ur-joke of the internet and made it reality by incorporating a tablet PC into a surfboard, allowing pro surfer Duncan Scott to literally, yes, surf the web. The laptop is integrated into a Jools Matthews board and communicates via WiFi with a hotspot on the beach. I fully expect to go outside now and find a laptop built into the BQE with a huge arrow pointing to the 'Information Highway.'
