PPCSG.com visit to the headquarters of Taiwanese manufacturer MiTAC, a rising star of sorts in the world of Pocket PCs and Smartphones. An interview with MiTAC's PR manager reveals that they're planning to introduce four new Smartphones every quarter and two new Pocket PCs each year. PPCSG.com also got a sneak peak at two of new Pocket PCs planned, the Mio 558, which and they also got a sneak peak at two of the with a sneak peak at the Mio 339, which comes with a built-in digital camera with flash that can also record video clips, and the Mio 558 (pictured at right), which has a 400MHz processor, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, software for making Voice over IP phone calls from a WiFi hotspot, and what looks like a port for plugging in USB peripherals like a keyboard or a mouse. Nokia announced the 7700, their first Series 90 cellphone, today in Nice. At first glance the phone, with its wedge-shaped design, reminds us of the N-Gage, but the 7700 is designed for a lot more than playing games. The 7700 has a large, 640x320 resolution, 65,000 color touchscreen which can be used for watching video and surfing the web, built-in Bluetooth, a VGA-quality digital camera, 64MB of RAM, and an integrated FM tuner.
