'Industry executives say Google's relations with Yahoo are quite strained; Yahoo owns Google stock and was responsible for much of its early growth. Indeed, last July, Yahoo agreed to only a short-term extension of its Google contract, which is now set to expire at the end of this month. Yahoo is said to be seriously considering switching its Web search to Inktomi, a Google rival that does not run its own Web site. Google-free Yahoo Search is out (via Scott Loftesness).  The interesting thing is that ranking algorithm used seems to be very similar to PageRank used by Google.  For example, I am the 11th 'Don' on both services.  I used to be the 9th but the acceleration of global warming trend dropped me down a couple of notches.
