WQD Forums hit 100
WQD Forums hit 100
08/27/2004 01:34 PM
In December, I
announced that I quit drinking. I got a flurry of comments of
support. Several of us who had decided to be sober, thought a group
blog about quitting drinking would be interesting so we started We Quit Drinking, the
blog. Soon, due to some weird Google magic, the blog became the
first result for "quit drinking". A wide variety of people who were
looking for support and help dropped in and commented. Jonas, who
among other things works with addiction as a counselor, decided that a
more private space, a message board requiring login might make sense
so he created the WQD
Forums. He announced
today that WQD Forums has hit 100 members and have become a
vibrant community of people who are in various stages of sobriety
sharing and supporting. Since that day in December, I've received
sooo much input and advice. Thank you. Some of it has been very useful
and some, frankly, not so helpful. I have been to a few AA meetings
and have really enjoyed them. On the other hand, I have not yet passed
the first step, "Step One: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol,
that our lives had become unmanageable." At the meeting I said, "I
think I have a problem, but I don't yet believe that I am powerless or
that my life has become unmanagable." The interesting thing is, no one
was upset. One AA'er later said, "In AA, we call that 'a quart
short'". I think I will still drop into AA meetings because I love the
stories and the comfortable atmosphere of sharing, but until I get to
Step One somehow, I don't think I can really be a true member. It's
been quite a journey hearing the wide variety of opinions about
drinking. I've decided on the few advisors and approaches that I think
work for me now in helping manage myself. My opinion may change and if
I finally believe that I am powerless and my life has become
unmanagable, I know I can always count on AA, which I now believe has
an incredible power to save people from alcoholism. If you thinking
you have a problem or know you have a problem, try dropping by WQD
Forums and join us in our emerging community.

The Value of Forums
The Value of Forums
05/26/2004 07:38 PM?There are literally thousands of online forums that cover a wide
range of topics. Forums provide individuals, who share a common
interest, with a meeting place for open discussion, and a great
gathering spot for ?water cooler? talk. When used properly forums can
be an excellent business tool and resource. By providing well thought
out, helpful responses posters can develop a reputation as an industry
expert. Establishing a reputation within forums will eventually lead
to solid business contacts and relationships.?

phpBB based
forums we have set up have two new RSS feeds. They come in two
flavors:
Information Rich and

activity on the forums and keep you up to date on the progress of an
active thread that may interest you.
Apple's Safari web browser
will
incorporate RSS feed reading in the update that accompanies Mac OS X

Forums Beta allows customers to search a growing archive of
technical questions and answers. If an answer can’t be found in
search, a customer can ask a new question, be notified when there are
replies, and mark the appropriate reply as an answer. Over time
we’ll use this Q&A pairing to improve search, build a “hall of
fame” of top contributors, and construct a community-maintained FAQ.
We’re creating forums for Whidbey Beta2 technologies to start with,
and will add more developer technologies soon. There are already
people requesting DirectX forums!

Web-based forums almost live
Web-based forums almost live
05/19/2004 10:22 AMAs annou
nced earlier, my support newsgroups will soon be replaced by web-based forums which are
currently being tested.
Once I'm done tweaking the forum code, the newsgroups will be made
read-only - which should occur within the next few days. If you have
a new support question, you might want to post it in the web-based forums now
instead of starting another newsgroup thread.
Note that since I'm sill working on the forums, you may run into an
occasional slowdown (or cryptic error) while the code is recompiled.
These problems should be infrequent, and should no longer occur after
the forums "officially" go live.

Undead Quicktopic forums: "Come over to

Undead Quicktopic forums: "Come over to
your dreamland."
04/05/2005 07:03 PMXeni Jardin:
Back in the day on Boing Boing, we used to finish each post with a
"discuss" link that pointed to a corresponding QuickTopic forum. My
co-editors and I find no end of amusement in monitoring how some of
these forums go dormant, then inexplicably come back to life in a
flurry of posts which have absolutely nothing to do with the original
topic. For instance,
this
QT forum titled "Phone Ladies of Bangladesh," which related to
a post about wireless telecom cotttage industry in that country.
Now, it's overflowing with erotic solicitation spam from what would
appear to be very horny, very lonely fellows who have a knack for
surrealist love poetry.
I will help you to feel a complete women from head to toe. I am
looking for girls/women to have free sex from any where any age. Only
for babes want to have alternate harmony. First I am not sure if you
going to get this mail. In case, if you do I would like to say Hello
first. I am decent working man. I am very open-minded looking for a
open minded person. I am looking for a person who is understanding and
likes to explore the fantasy of life.
Have you ever wanted to explore your fantasy? Have you ever thought
about having a wild erotic experience of wilderness? This is only for
woman seeking erotic experience head to toe and feel the aroma of
life. This change is to fulfill your inner desire & feel complete
women. Explore the unsaid of life. Please have an open mind. I would
prefer you to mail me. If you desire some thing that you want to
experience, please write to sgr_nes@yahoo.com.
I will surely come over to your dreamland.
