A great parody of the Pepsi / Apple Superbowl commercial. (Thanks RS!)

You can see the original Pepsi / iTunes ad here. (Thanks Shawn!)

It's also on the Apple site.

I guess, as Boris says, it's not so much a parody as what they really wanted to say, but couldn't. Those kids probably got paid more to do the ad than they paid the RIAA. The RIAA is getting so stupid that it's getting cool to make fun of them. Sounds like the beginning of the end when your business involves being cool.

06/24/2005 07:36 PM
Credit Suisse First Boston reiterated a "market weight" rating on the PC hardware industry after The NPD Group released May retail and distribution data for the United States, reports Forbes. The month represented the first material slowdown for PC shipments in over a year with a 6% year-over-year growth, with notebook sales increasing and desktop sales falling. "From a vendor perspective, Apple Computer was the big winner, growing units 79% year-over-year overall and 94% year-over-year in standalone retail," the research firm said. "The strength in retail year to date has been somewhat unexpected to us given the consumer strength over the past two years, along with slowing macro economic trends. However, it is important not to overanalyze NPD's shipment information, as this is not the first time units have slowed before immediately recovering--October 2003--in the following month."

Analysts at Morgan Stanley have upgraded Apple Computer from "equal weight" to "overweight," while raising their estimates for the company and setting the target price to $60. In a research note published this morning, analysts at Morgan Stanley say the market is currently underestimating iPod’s potential. They say the consensus forecasts for the iPod halo effect, reflects the rate at which people using iPod switch to Mac, are 10% for this year. The analysts believe that the iPod would lend more than 20% upside to Apple’s earnings this year and almost 50% in 2006 on account of the halo effect. The EPS estimates for 2005 and 2006 have been raised from $1.07 to $1.31 and from $1.22 to $1.88, respectively.

Analysts weigh in on Apple iMac shortage 07/07/2004 07:44 AM
While a new iMac has been expected for some time, Cupertino-based Apple Computer Inc. surprised many industry watchers when they announced late last week a shortage of iMacs leading the company to suspend order-taking for the product. Apple called the iMac shortage "less than perfect" planning as it waits for the next generation of consumer desktops to hit the market. Industry analysts see the shortage as a significant problem for the company, but one they feel Apple can recover from if the new iMac follows Apple's tradition blockbuster releases.

A few weeks back we, along with just about everyone, trotted out the latest version of the old rumor that Apple was thinking of moving to Intel chips, and ditching IBM. Considering that this rumor shows up quite often, we didn't put much faith in it, only posting it because the reports seemed a bit more credible. Of course, almost immediately there were denials, including Intel CEO Paul Otellini's great "Halley's Comet" quote. Well, it turns out that this time around, the rumors might be true. News.com has the scoop that Apple will make the official announcement on Monday. We'll still only believe it when we see the "Intel Inside" sticker on a Powerbook, but it certainly sounds like this time might be for real.

Bruce Schneier has written an interesting article discussing the accusation of Ahmed Chalabi of informing Iran that the US had broken its codes and when Iran knew that the NSA was cracking their codes. He digs into the history of Crypto AG, the NSA and Iran. He links to an article about Hans Buehler, the Crypto AG salesman who was arrested by Iran in 1992 on suspicion that Crypto AG had installed back doors in its encryption machines. There is no conclusion, but this story reminds me of Crytonomicon and the interesting world of information, misinformation and spying.
