clickplus.jpg imageTom's Hardware has an almost painfully in-depth profile of a handful of new mice from Logitech, including the corded MX510 "performance mouse," covered in a blue holographic sheen -- designed to appeal to the gaming crowd with its light weight and quick response -- and the 'Click' series [pictured], a new line of cordless mice that now include horizontal tilt motion on the scroll wheels, like the latest mice from Microsoft. Logitech has always made a good interface puck, and if you'd like to catch a sneak peak at the insides of their Swiss development laboratories, don't miss this article. Of course, if you just wanted to know about the mice, I pretty much just took care of you.

Logitech launches laser-tracking mouse

Logitech launches laser-tracking mouse 09/01/2004 08:01 AM
SAN FRANCISCO - Logitech Inc. was set Wednesday to introduce a new mouse that uses a laser beam to track the movements of the device. The mouse, which Logitech claims will be the first such laser-tracking device, provides end users with better click-and-point capabilities than traditional LED- (light-emitting diode) based optical mice, according to company officials.

Logitech MX 1000 Laser Mouse Reviewed 09/22/2004 08:38 AM

mx1000-4.jpg imageWhen Logitech released its recent MX 1000 "Laser Mouse," I think a lot of use were questioning if it really was any better than a good ol' LED optical version. The problem is, there really isn't any benchmark you can use to objectively test it, either, so when Tom's Hardware says that it's the best mouse they've ever used, you sort of have to take it with a grain of salt. Not that it might not be the best mouse ever created, but you'll certainly want to try one for yourself before dropping $80 on one. The Tom's review, though, at least let's you know that it's worth considering, so I thought I'd mention it.

Notebook Cordless Mouse Roundup
(Verdict: Go Logitech)
04/12/2005 11:31 AM

notebook_cordless_roundup.jpgLIVEdigitally has a nice and comprehensive roundup of three cordless notebook mice. Pitting the Logitech V500 ($70), Belkin Mini ($29) and Kensington Pocket Mouse ($50) against each other, each mouse carries its own strong points, with the Logitech V500 edging out the others just barely. The Logitech features a "4-way soild state scroll panel" in lieu of a wheel, nixing moving parts and making for a more solid device. The scroll panel impressed them considerably, working both for horizontal and vertical scrolling. Even cooler, the wireless receiver fits inside the mouse when not in use. The other mice fared well and tended to cost less, although lacking some of the pizazz of the Logitech. Read LIVEdigitally's review for the full story on all the mices.

Logitech on Wednesday introduced the MX 1000 Laser Cordless Mouse. The company bills is as "the world's first laser mouse," since the mouse uses laser illumination and tracking. What's more, it uses "Fast RF" wireless technology to connect to either a Mac or PC. The laser light of the cordless mouse is nearly invisible and very safe, according to the company -- it beams down onto the surface and reflects back up; a sensor in the mouse detects movements and translates that to cursor motion.

Remember when mice didn’t have scroll wheels and you had to click, click, click your way down a page? Remember when they didn’t have optical sensors and used a heavy rubber-coated ball that got all messed up with lint over time? Well, things are about to get even better, thanks to a new design from Logitech that dumps the scroll wheel in favor of a sensitive slider panel you simply trace your finger across. It…

mx518_rev.jpgEverything USB takes the Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse out for a night of LAN gaming and says it's A-OK. The MX518 is the new model with the DPI changing switch on the side, making it easy to flip back and forth between quick movement with high DPI settings (up to 1600!) down to the low DPI settings for precision sniping, even without drivers. If you do install the drivers, though, be prepared to experience both a wide range of extended features and a bunch of confusing, not-quite-explained options. Still, it looks a winner for $50, even if it does look like the Edward James Olmos Edition.
