Barebones has released an update to BBEdit with the usual batch of bug fixes and new features that we've come to expect. This one sounds very cool:

You can now use scripts written in any Unix scripting language that can be run from the Shebang (#!) menu with BBEdit's include file mechanism. (Appendix C covers the use of include files.)

Windows Update v6 Released as Microsoft
Update

Windows Update v6 Released as Microsoft
Update
06/06/2005 12:13 AM
Thanks eXtermia for the heads up on this news, found at DriverHeaven

They are reporting that Microsoft have publically released Windows Update v6, now dubbed Microsoft Update. Users on Windows 2000, 2003 Server and XP have access to the web site after downloading an ActiveX update. The new update site supports both Windows and Office 2003 updates in one central location making it easier for customers to get a hold of the latest patches and updates available to Microsoft software.

Once at the website, you'll have to agree to download some new software which may take a couple of minutes, but once done you'll see the new version of the Windows Update website - although there don't seem to be any new updates on there at the moment. Windows XP users will have to have at least Service Pack 1 to use the site.

Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update Released

Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update Released 04/18/2005 06:45 PM
Glenn Fleishman (~230 words)

Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update Released -- Apple has released Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update, which is almost certainly the last numbered release for Panther. With Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger due to ship 29-Apr-05 (details later in this issue), any new Panther releases will be specific application or security fixes (as was true for Jaguar). This update includes fixes for a lot of fiddly problems that must have been weighing on Apple so they could close the book on continuing engineering (three of the upgrade notes relate to Stickies, for crying out loud). However, a few important nuggets are included: for example, erratic trackpad behavior on some PowerBooks has been fixed, as well as some possible kernel panics when waking a PowerBook G4 from sleep and a number of security fixes to the kernel.

Justin Reid of TheFeature has good things to say about a neat-sounding application called Salling Clicker that turns a Bluetooth device into a remote control for your Mac.
One of the really amazing features is that you can see not just ordinary information about the track you've got currently playing in iTunes - artist and song name, track length, etc. - but also the album art, directly on your mobile device.

Motorola V3 "Razor" Reviewed

Motorola V3 "Razor" Reviewed 07/26/2004 02:18 PM

motov3raz.jpg imageMobile-Review has a breakdown of the new Motorola V3 "Razor" phone, an almost all-metal clamshell that surprisingly doesn't forego a lot of features to reach its tiny size. Similar in function to the v600, the titanium-clad V3 is still fairly wide, but manages to remain less than 14mm thin in profile even with lots of built-in features (like Bluetooth).

To launch this September between $650 and $750, this spiritual successor to the StarTac is yet another hot phone from Motorola that manages to waltz into a crowded phone market and instantly make its own segment. It may be small, but I expect sales of the V3 to be big (I can't believe I just wrote that).

Motorola V3 Razr is Hot

Motorola V3 Razr is Hot 09/02/2004 09:48 AM

razer_yankees_sm.jpg imageHey, is that a picture of me holding the new Motorola V3 RAZR phone at last night's Yankee's game? Why yes, it is! Is it also proof of my inability to use the Fuji F440 I'm reviewing to focus on something in the foreground? Why, it's that, too!

I didn't get a chance to mess around with it for long - it isn't mine for review, sadly, but someone from another magazine - but boy oh boy is that one sexy phone. It's almost sort of big when you look at it from the front, but then you close it and look at its profile and go all sort of knock-kneed. And that flat metal keypad is heart, too. It's a very nice phone, at least from the want to sort of rub it all over sense.

The gold game is pretty fun, too.

The verdict? Well, with the exception of an extraordinarily crappy phonebook application, it looks like a dream. I expect the V3 RaZr to sell out as soon as it hits the streets.

There was a "may be released" qualifier in there, though, so don't get in a snit if it doesn't quite make it. (Thanks, Keith!)

So iTunes for Motorola phones was hardly the only announcement made last night during Motorola's new 'Seamless Mobility' launch. For instance, the V3 RAZR -- the super-hot all-metal clamshell phone that we mentioned yesterday [pictured right] -- was officially unveiled, as was the MPx220, the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition clamshell with an integrated 1.23-megapixel camera. We'll have more details on these two new hot flip phones as we learn more, but there's certainly no shortage of good information in the press releases. The real question is which would you rather have: A super-slim metal phone with okay features or a high-end but slightly more traditionally styled phone with lots of features?
