The 2005 edition of Microsoft Streets & Trips not
only comes with a version of Pocket Streets for Pocket PC (which it
may of before, I'm not sure), but the $130 version comes wtih a GPS
unit, as well. Anybody know what the make and model on this unit is?
Or failing that, who makes the internals?

driving directions it seems like a waste of money to buy a standalone
program that basically does the same thing. To survive, software
publishers need to offer a lot more than the online freebies.
Microsoft Corp.'s Streets & Trips 2005 does just that.

01/07/2004 04:22 PMIn traveling around the US and Canada Microsoft Streets and Trips
has been very useful (the program is kind of a copy of DeLorme's
Street Atlas). You can type in an address or find a museum and
then ask "show me the airports within a 20-mile radius". It seems
to have all the general aviation airports in the U.S. at least.
Sadly, however, this program runs out of data when you get beyond
North America (and coverage of Mexico is thin). Does anyone know
of similar software that covers Europe? Central and South
America? Asia?

interface, and Microsoft Visual Basic class files, which are compiled
into a DLL (using Visual Basic 6.0 with Service Pack 5) and provide
the underlying functionality. The SOAP Toolkit is used to generate a
Web Services Meta Language (WSML) file that maps the operations of
MapPoint Web Service described in the MapPoint Web Service Web
Services Description Language (WSDL) file to specific methods in the
COM object (the DLL). The WSML file determines which object to load in

the tactic of saying something inflammatory in order to goad the
receiver of the bug into fixing it. You see this a lot in Bugzilla, and also in reported
Safari bugs.
Here are some of my favorite phrases (for your enjoyment). Let X =
the browser of your choice. Let Y = any other browser.
(1) The Promise - "The lack of this feature is the one thing
that keeps me from switching to X."
(2) "I can't work under these conditions. I'll be in my
trailer." - "I can't believe you broke this! That's it! I'm going
back to Y!"
(3) Playing the EOMB Card - "How can this be broken? Every
other modern browser gets this right."
(4) Impatience - "Months have passed, and this bug still hasn't
been fixed! What's the holdup?"
(5) Overeagerness - "Still broken." (2 days later.) "Still
broken." (2 days later.) "Feature still doesn't work. (2 days later.)
"Broken in build from mm/dd/yy."
The Safari team has actually started using the term EOMB as a way
of referring to all other modern browsers. ;)
