Now the platforming side of the game
is very well
done, I really enjoyed it, the small cutscenes are filled with
excellent narrations
as you go about your tasks of pulling levers, moving objects around
and generally
running and jumping about and the pure scale of the game’s levels is
excellent,
it is however let down by a number of annoyances during
gameplay.
For those of us who have played Max
Payne before,
you'll already know the drill as not a great deal has changed in
this sequel, which
isn't a bad thing as the game aims to be as fun and action packed
as possible. There
were not many problems with the first game anyway, so why change
something that
isn't broken in the first place. The few niggles that were in the
original game
have just about been ironed out.

ActiveXbox.com: Grabbed By The Ghoulies (Xbox) - Review12/04/2003 03:40 PM I
have posted up my
review of the first Rare title on the Xbox - Grabbed By The
Ghoulies. Here is
a snippet from the review:
Now then, Grabbed by the Ghoulies is
quite a simple
game, but then again it is a title that is aimed toward the younger
generation,
so i guess that is far. But just because kids are likely to be playing
this, doesn't
mean you should make it overly simplistic. You control the movement of
your character
with the left thumbstick. The kicking and punching with the right
thumbstick (pressing
the various directions does a different move each time. The top left
and right trigger
direct the camera.

Saitek Wireless Adapter for PlayStation Controllers
Okay, this on is a little
hard to follow, but it's worth it, so stick with me. Amazon has the
Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G router (the one that runs Linux that you can
flash with the magic firmware to make it do all sorts of interesting
tricks) bundled with a Wireless-G notebook card for $108 (there's a
"Better Together" link on the product page). If you buy both, you can
use the $10 rebate on both to save $20, then go on to qualify for a
$20 gift certificate on future Amazon shopping.
So basically you're getting a really nice, tinker-ready Wi-Fi
router for $68 with free shipping. Not a bad deal at all, but if you
still aren't seeing why this is a good deal, you probably wouldn't
want one in the first place.

My laptop is welded to my hip, if I go someplace and leave my
mobile phone at the house I feel naked. Heck the other day I grabbed
the PDA, Cell Phone, and stupid me left the wallet at home.
(Priorities I guess) Well in 2001 shortly after 9-11 I was deployed to
a location that was in a communications black-out no phone, no e-mail,
no Net etc this continued for 78 days. Talk about a forced 12 step
plan those 78 days changed me completely. Life goes on without e-mail!
Is this a shocking statement. We all realize it is not truly practical
but it changed my perspective. So mow when I go on vacation I leave my
virtual office at the office and truly go on vacation. If you vacation
with your virtual office I challenge you to leave it at home next
time. You will come back refreshed and ready to read those 3000
e-mails you missed while you were gone. Oh and how did I catch up with
78 days of mail. Simple I deleted the whole batch. [Smart

Billmon's inability to keep up with the demands of
moderating comments in the face of a job, family and other
responsibilities is just one manifestation of a problem increasingly
faced by popular daily bloggers: burnout. While they enjoy what
they're doing, many find that keeping up with the pressures to post
regularly and to be sharp, witty and incisive is often too
much.

Trailblazer or Burnout?
Trailblazer or Burnout?06/02/2004 11:52 AM The Wall Street Journal contends Nokia is off on a lark while CNET
sings the company's praises.
Ohhh boy this article hit the nail on the head and covers a aspect
of blogging that is dead center. This is close to post 3000 on this
site and sometimes reviewing mail the articles run together and you
just say the hell with it. In the past I have self imposed days off as
way to take a break. But it leaves me feeling guilty.
One thing is for sure my recovery time is winding down and I could
be back to my regular job in the next 10 days and that will definitely
affect my online time but it's good as it keeps the burnout light from
coming on. [Wired]
E-Mail Stress Disorder or Burnout?
E-Mail Stress Disorder or Burnout?05/12/2004 06:48 PM I think I have some sort of strange e-mail related disorder. Ever
since I stared reducing the volume of my daily mail feed I've become
even more sensitive to how much damned e-mail I get. It's weird.
E-mail seems like such a burden anymore. I have maybe 20 messages I've
been needing to reply to (down from hundreds) and it just seems like
such a chore. After I get home from work (where I still process a fair
amount of...

Americans Feeling Birthday Burnout
Americans Feeling Birthday Burnout04/29/2004 07:10 PM Americans are tired of celebrating birthdays, and it's not because
they live in a society obsessed with staying young. According to a
recent survey by MarketFacts, the majority of Americans say their
birthday feels no different from any other day of the year, and a
third of those surveyed say their lack of enthusiasm stems from the
hassle of planning a party.1

Revenge of the S..t
Revenge of the S..t06/06/2005 12:11 AM Saw Star Wars III. I
think that if you spliced episodes I, II and III together, you might
get a pretty decent movie. Just take the last half an hour from this
one - because no other bit in it deserves saving. The first third of
the movie is mostly boring - I yawned at the attempts to create
sense-of-wonder (you know guys, there's a thing called "too
much").
The middle part of the movie I mostly giggled through, much to the
annoyance of my fellow moviegoers, I'm sure.
The final third had a bit of the same feeling as the old saga, and
I had nearly a tear in my eye at one point. But still.
Star Wars III is kinda like going to a bad hamburger place: It's
crap food, and then you laugh at a poor waiter who drops a tray and
makes a mess, but their ice cream leaves a decent aftertaste.
Next time, I'll just have the ice cream, thanks.

Premiere Gets Its Revenge This May04/06/2005 06:21 PM And so it begins. Time for Star Wars magazine cover collector’s
to start checking the racks on a daily basis. With the last movie
virtually on our doorsteps –hard to believe, isn’t it?-- magazines are
chomping at the bit to cover what will hopefully go down in history as
the best Star Wars episode ever. Leading the pack, as usual, is
Premiere, who will release a cover featuring Anakin that completes the
collection they started in 1999 with their four Episode I
covers. Click the thumbnail above for a sneak peek of next month’s
issue.

Revenge of the Roomba07/13/2004 03:41 PM The profesor sent us
this about the new and
improved Roomba robot vacuum cleaner: iRobot yesterday announced
some new versions of our Roomba line of robotic vacuums. Cool new
features include a recharging docking station and a dirt sensor, in
addition to many changes to make it a more solid product. For more
details see the iRobot
press release. According to their website, the new version also
includes a bigger dust bin that
holds three times as much as the old Roomba. I've also heard that
Roomba hackers may find
some interesting new changes inside too. But can it still be used to
deliver beer?

Neuroscience of revenge
Neuroscience of revenge08/31/2004 01:55 PM David Pescovitz:
Researchers at the University of Zurich have shown that revenge is,
well, sweet. Their experiment, described in Scientific American, was
based on a game where one player was given the opportunity to punish
another player for financially screwing him. PET scans revealed that
when a player contemplated revenge, his striatum, a "reward center" in
the brain, became energized.
This sort of causal relationship may explain why people
are willing to discipline a stranger even when there is no immediate
gain in it for them. "Emotions play a proactive as well as reactive
role," remarks Brian Knutson of Stanford University who penned an
accompanying commentary (to a paper about the study in the journal
Science). He notes that "passionate" forces may need to be included in
economic models because, as this research shows, “people show
systematic deviations from rationality."
