Gift Certificate

itunes.jpg imageGood news for those people who actually use iTunes Music Store -- in celebration of the approaching sale of the 100 millionth song, Apple will be giving away 50 special 20GB iPods to the purchasers of every 100,000th song. If you're the lucky person who purchases the song number 100 million, you'll win a 17-inch Powerbook, a 40GB iPod, and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes downloads. Oh, and your own Celebrity playlist, too, which I recommend you fill up entirely with Hall & Oates, or at least Oates.

The contest is available to US and European iTunes Music Store customers.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router,
Notebook Adapter, $20 Gift Certificate
for $88

wrt54g.jpg imageOkay, this on is a little hard to follow, but it's worth it, so stick with me. Amazon has the Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G router (the one that runs Linux that you can flash with the magic firmware to make it do all sorts of interesting tricks) bundled with a Wireless-G notebook card for $108 (there's a "Better Together" link on the product page). If you buy both, you can use the $10 rebate on both to save $20, then go on to qualify for a $20 gift certificate on future Amazon shopping.

So basically you're getting a really nice, tinker-ready Wi-Fi router for $68 with free shipping. Not a bad deal at all, but if you still aren't seeing why this is a good deal, you probably wouldn't want one in the first place.

The URL Clearinghouse

The URL Clearinghouse
http://library.albany. edu/clearinghouse/

The URL Clearinghouse is a set of instructions for creating URLs to vendor-mediated databases and e-journals licensed by libraries and other information providers. These are the URLs that librarians maintain in OPACs, Web sites, databases, course pages, guides, etc. The Clearinghouse focuses on URLs that point to databases and e-journals at the title level. Where discovered on a vendor's site, the option to create deep links at the article level and other deep levels is noted but no instructions are included. The Clearinghouse focuses on vendors that offer multiple titles, e.g., OCLC with its FirstSearch databases, Ingenta with its Ingenta Select e-journals. Few e-books or other electronic texts are included at this time, although some of the vendors featured in the Clearinghouse offer such items. [Laura B. Cohen - Network Services Librarian/Webmaster - University at Albany]

Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC) is a system of clients and servers that collect and count checksums related to mail messages. The counts can be used by SMTP servers and mail user agents to detect and reject bulk mail. DCC servers can exchange common checksums. The checksums include values that are "fuzzy", or constant across common variations in bulk messages.
Changes:
This version uses Dccifd as a Postfix before-queue filter. There are IPv6 fixes.

How to view SSL certificate?

How to view SSL certificate? 03/24/2005 01:57 PM
If you’re at a secure site in Safari, how do you view information about the certificate?

In Firefox it’s easy—just click on the lock icon. But I can’t figure out how to do it in Safari (or IE either).

I found that Keychain Access stores certificates, but I was hoping there was an easier way to do this from the browser, or even from the command line. (Google doesn’t turn up anything for me, so it may be just that it’s not do-able, but I figured I’d ask anyway.)
