Fujifilm S3 Pro (and More) Leaked
Fujifilm S3 Pro (and More) Leaked
09/21/2004 10:38 AM
Looks like Fujifilm Germany may have accidentally
leaked information about the company's upcoming product line,
including news of the Fujifilm S3Pro DSLR [pictured], a 12.1-megapixel
follow up to the FinePix S2 Pro. There's also information about some
new printers and some "new techologies," mostly stuff about the new
"Image Intelligence" image processing software, as well as Fuji's
"Picture the Future" roadmap for the upcoming year.
They'll likely pull the information from the website - it was dated
for the 28th - but LivingRoom grabbed the press releases and is
mirroring them now.

Fujifilm F440 Review
Fujifilm F440 Review
09/27/2004 10:49 AM
I've been a bad man. Fujifilm lent me a
couple of cameras well over a month ago for review and I'm just now
getting around to writing up my impressions of them. Normally I dawdle
on these sort of things because I don't want to write them, usually
because the product is so poor or boring that I just can't get excited
enough to say anything meaningful.
That's not the case here (although I make no promises of
"meaningful"). The Fujifilm F440 has been in my bag for weeks now and
I'm going to be sorry to see it go. It's exactly what I had been
looking for in a sidearm and I could recommend it to almost any casual
photographer who wants a good camera that's small enough to take
anywhere.
My impressions after the jump (I've brought lots of wigs, so watch
out.)

Six New Fujifilm Cameras; New Mamiya and
Yakumos, Too
07/28/2004 09:39 AM
So between Fujifilm, Yakumo,
and Mamiya nine different cameras have been release in the last
24 hours or so, including a total of six new Finepix models, ranging
from the "no-nonsense" E-series cameras to an update to (local
favorite) S5000, the S5500. Not only is the S5500 at least 500 better,
it now sports a 4-megapixel sensor, as well as the already hot 10x
optical zoom.
Also announced is a new Mamiya RZ67 Pro IID [right], a new
medium-format camera that blends old-world crank handles with
modern-day optics. It's also square, like a delicious brownie.

Fujifilm Finepix F810 Zoom
Fujifilm Finepix F810 Zoom
09/23/2004 03:42 PM
Fujifilm has announced the F810, a 6-megapixel
specialty camera that shoot both regular (4:3) or widescreen (16:9)
formats, using Fuji's Super CCD HR sensor. In addition it has a 4x
optical zoom and a 2.1-inch rear LCD screen. Because the dual-purpose
lens makes it a bit of an oddball, Fujifilm says to expect the $600
F810 not in major retail stores, but instead both online and retail
photo outlets.

Two New FujiFilm FinePix Zoom: F440 and
F450
06/17/2004 10:06 AM
Two new digital cameras from FujiFilm, if you're into
this whole "digital camera" fad. The FinePix F440 and F450 are
essentially the same camera, sharing the same housing, 3.4x optical
zoom, and PictBridge camera-to-printer over USB feature,
differentiated only by the resolution of their CCD (not the FujiFilm
'SuperCCD,' by the way) -- the F440 is a 4.1-megapixel camera, while
the F450 is a 5.2-megapixel. Both cameras use xD-Picture cards, come
with a cradle, and share a very lightweight, slim design (3 x 2.5 x
0.8 inches, even). The F440 should be available for around $400, the
F450 for around $500.
But who cares! When these newfangled digi-cameras explode in your
face, spewing hot sulpher and chloride gas into your eyes, then
we'll see who was right about the dangers of your clockwork
nincompoopery.

Although it pains me that they've spent all this
design goodness on a cheap old film camera, FujiFilm's Q1 line has
been updated with a mess of new designs, including a pink, flowery
number inspired by Italian Designer Emilio Pucci. They need to come
out with a cheap digital in the same casing pronto.

class="right"/>PhotographyBlog has posted their review of the
FujiFilm FinePix S5500 Zoom, and they have given it a rating of
"doesn't blow too hard." Though the reviewer is a fan of the increased
ISO speed options and enhancements to some other areas of the camera,
he doesn't seem to like the "Zoom" part of the S5500 Zoom. The 10x
optical zoom may sound like a fancy number, but he goes on to say that
it doesn't exactly take the cake when it comes to focusing
quickly.

PTDS is a unique sampling profiler for Java applications. It
can give you immediate feedback about which methods are
executing the most. It also offers a more advanced mode in
which you can control the profiler from within your Java
application. This allows you to get precise information on
specific phases of your algorithm. Also included is a simple
way of measuring the size of individual objects.
Changes:
The ability to track live methods and compiled methods has been added.
A bug with profiling recursive methods has been fixed. A user-friendly
command line interface has been added. The ability to change the
sampling period, the maximum allowable stack height, and the minimum
displayed method rate has been added. Enhancements have been added to
the Java API. Internal refactoring has been performed. The
documentation has been expanded. Note that this release includes
incompatible changes to the Java API.
