Eli sez, "This Czech designed pinhole camera is made from carefully
cut out and constructed paper (needs to be stiff and lightproof). The
name comes from the Czech word for pinhole (dirka) and a pun on Nikon.
Uses 35mm film. Remember that you'll want a long exposure for a

Free community Web site Craigslist has cost San Francisco Bay Area

according to a report released Monday.
Craigslist, which generates more than 1 billion page-views each
month, also has cost the newspapers millions more in merchandise and
real estate advertising, and has damaged other traditional classified
advertising businesses, according to a report published by Classified
Intelligence.

06/22/2005 02:44 AMDave Morgan of Tacoda provides a detailed overview in MediaPost of how
newspapers are getting trounced by online classifieds. The most
dramatic change is not merely that readers and advertisers prefer the
online medium, but that newspapers have abdicated control over
classified pricing to their new online competitors. I've seen...

More Newspapers Sending Readers

More Newspapers Sending Readers
Elsewhere Via Registrations
06/14/2004 03:33 AMThese days, the online consumer has an awful lot of choices for online
news. Assuming that your newspapers' site is so special that people
will want to cough up all sorts of personal info in exchange for
access is an increasingly risky bet - but
more and more sites are taking it, believing (incorrectly)
that by doing this they'll get better info for their advertisers.
This is wrong, of course. First off, by putting up any barrier,
they're scaring off a good number of potential readers who have plenty
of other places they can go to get similar stories. As for the "more
accurate data" they can use to pitch advertisers - most are finding
that much of the registered data they get is
dirty
data, since users don't want to give up personal info just to read
the news. So, they have a smaller audience and less accurate data on
that audience. This doesn't seem likely to bring in any more money.
In fact, it seems like a recipe for bringing
fewer advertising
dollars. Why are so many more sites rushing to do this?

Newspapers Getting Into The Music
Downloading Business
06/16/2004 01:21 PMBecause there aren't already enough different (and often incompatible)
music download stores online, various
British
newspapers are now looking to get into the game. It seems odd
that so many brands that have absolutely nothing to do with music
retailing somehow think they can now make selling downloadable music a
worthwhile business, especially when there's so much competition and
so few ways to differentiate.
