South Korean PSP Wi-Fi 'NESPOT' Details

South Korean PSP Wi-Fi 'NESPOT' Details 04/05/2005 04:41 PM

nespot.jpgPSP411 has more information on the South Korean PSP Wi-Fi portal, apparently to be called 'NESPOT' (or 'Any Spot,' not 'NES POT,' although someone will surely get an emulator working on the PSP soon enough). It's nothing terribly unexpected, with lots of planned music and video downloads, as well as a web browser that is reportedly to be distributed on a UMD disc, instead of stored on a MemoryStick. Why do you care? If NESPOT takes off at all, it's not unreasonable to expect a similar service to be launched in the United States or other countries. At the very worst, since UMD software appears to be region-free, there's a chance we'll be able to import the browser discs and have a non-hacky way of getting our PSPs out onto the web.

Details on South Korea Web Browser & Media Service [PSP411]

South Korean government bans Kim Sun-Il execution video. Activates government emergency internet monitoring system. Orders web sites and ISPs to comply. " Web sites that fail to follow through the instructions will be subject to shut-down or police investigation". Several South Korean web sites have already been shut down, while other sites, such as Yahoo! Korea, are assisting the government by blocking and censoring their user's email. Meanwhile, a general strike, massive antiwar protests, and a refusal by airline unions may prevent the deployment and supply of 3,000 South Korean soldiers to Iraq, as well as the rule of the current South Korean government. Numerous U.S. websites are being blocked, and one of the sites, Ogrish.com, is under attack from hackers for carrying the execution video. (warning: tragic and traumatic. Windows Media.)
