The main W3C Cascading Style Sheets page at the W3C has been updated.
The old page was noteable in that there were few -- if any -- browsers
that could properly render it as designed.
The Convention in Section View08/27/2004 01:49 PM I may try it next week, just to see what response I get. I may slip
into an elevator at Madison Square Garden and catch the eye of someone
who looks to be in charge. "Excuse me, but could you perhaps tell me:
What floor is the convention on?" Some notes on the vertical logic of
the event.

site with a lot of potential to be very informing. I just feel that a
little more organization and basic info is needed. I thoroughly enjoy
visiting and look forward to learning more from you all.

It's hard
to believe it's all free! This trove of information from
thefreedictionary.com offers all sorts of information on math. From
algebra and integers to derivatives and polynomials, it's all here. By
scrolling over or clicking on a link, the visitor is treated to a
sometimes whopping amount of information about the given topic. For
those simply interested in math, math lovers, or possibly a teacher
who needs to venture into a rusty subject area before next fall, this
site is well worth a look. Note: while it's free, there are some
advertisements. [From The NSDL Scout Report for Math, Engineering, and

I wonder if it's converting to Movable Type that means that I find
it so hard to write. I wonder if it's the fact that each entry gets
its own full page to sit-upon that makes me nervous about writing
short posts or just talking about things going on in my life. I get
this anxiety that I won't be able to think of enough to say to warrant
a full page of comments. And if I know I've got enough to say, then I
get angsty because writing then becomes this significant job of work
that really should take second-place to something more
work-minded...
Could the Universe be shaped like a doughnut?
A particularly good debate has arisen about the shape of the universe
- does it infinitely extend in all directions or does it curve back
upon itself? Cosmologists are always having these kinds of debates -
just a few years back some nutters were trying to convince us that the
world was spherical.

om Steinberg comments on UpMyStreet Conversations
In the process he references an
ongoing thread that criticises the site for reflecting the
interests of its current users. In my opinion this represents a
stunning misconception of the purpose of the site and 'politics' in
general.
The
increasingly brilliant politX posts about Section 28
Section 28 is the piece of legislation designed to stop teachers
talking to students about gay people and what it means to be gay.
Conservative backbenchers are fighting to keep it in place, despite
the fact that gay teenagers are most at risk of attempted (and
successful) suicides.

services that you should turn off in Windows XP to save on system
resources. The default Windows XP installation contains a number of
unnecessary services that are started by default. Extra running
services consume CPU cycles and memory. To free up system resources
