Rockstar Asks For Grand Theft Auto
Lawsuit To Get Tossed
11/11/2003 05:50 AMRockstar Games, the makers of Grand Theft Auto have decided they've
had enough of Jack Thompson and his crusade to make them pay for every
child related crime where the kids, at one point or another, played
their video game. They've
asked the judge to
dismiss the lawsuit, saying that they shouldn't be held liable
based on the content in a game. Hopefully the judge will listen. The
kids who committed this crime are responsible for it. Trying to pass
the buck to the makers of a video game is a move based on greed - and
not about putting the responsibility on the truly guilty parties.

Judge Tosses AOL Spammer Lawsuit Over
Jurisdiction Issue
Judge Tosses AOL Spammer Lawsuit Over
Jurisdiction Issue
12/30/2003 07:44 PMDetails are sketchy on this one, but it sounds like a federal judge
has
dismissed a lawsuit filed by
AOL against some spammers because the judge claims not to have
jurisdiction over the spammers. The spammers are in Florida, but AOL
(and the court) are in Virginia. Once again, the question of
jurisdiction online becomes important. Should the spammers be liable
in Virginia because their emails hit AOL's machines (based in
Virginia) or should it be filed in a Florida court?

Judge Tosses Streisand Aerial Photos
Lawsuit
12/04/2003 12:02 PMRemember back in June when Barbara Streisand
filed a
lawsuit against Ken Adelman for photographing her home as part of
his effort to photograph the entire west coast of the US for
environmental purposes? Despite the fact that it was one of many
thousands of photos, shows very little detail and was taken from
public airspace, Streisand claimed it violated her privacy. Well, now
a judge has looked at the suit, scoffed, and
tossed it out, saying that the lawsuit actually
infringed on Adelman's right to free speech. Once again, this is an
example of trying to hide something online - and in the process
drawing
a lot more attention to it. If Streisand hadn't spoken up, very
few people would even know the photo existed. Now, millions do - and
it's all completely legal.
