ience-fair-projects.com/Today your teacher announced
that your school is going to have a science fair and students are
responsible for exhibiting their projects. What do you feel?
Enthusiastic? Despondent? Dreadful? Fearful? Excited?" This statement
opens the Super Science Fair Projects site. Actually, whether student
or parent, science fair projects, while great ways to get students
actively involved in learning the scientific method and problem
solving, can be tough assignments. This site may help you with one of
the hardest parts: coming up with an idea. The site does a great job
of walking the visitor through the steps needed to plan and implement
a project, from Choosing a Topic, the Scientific Method, and writing
the Project Report. There are even tips on displaying your project,
rehearsing, winning over judges, and what to expect the day of the
fair. This is definitely a great tool to tap into when planning a
science fair project.[From The NSDL Scout Report for Math,

Navigate the .NET Framework and Your
Projects with "My"
04/22/2004 01:20 AM One of the biggest issues that programmers run into is the sheer
breadth of .NET, which means that finding the best class for a
particular task can be quite daunting. I have read many newsgroup
postings from developers working very hard to call a Win32® API
function from their Visual Basic .NET or C# code, when that exact
function already exists in .NET. Why are they trying to call the API?
They didn't find, notice, or perhaps understand how they could use
existing parts of the Framework. My provides an intuitive navigation
hierarchy that exposes existing .NET functionality through easily
understood root objects, targeting the practical tasks and concepts
that you grapple with on a regular basis.

Content Management: About a year ago, Chris predicted that Oracle
would buy Interwoven. After EMC

as it did then. And then I read this:
Oracle has been promising to make big moves in content and
document management for at least the last four years. But to date they
are yet to make their mark, despite some good technology developments
with IFS, Collaboration Suite and the Portal products. The truth is
Oracle is known as a company that manages data in
databases.

Anyone know a good Toyota dealer?
Anyone know a good Toyota dealer?
05/18/2004 09:16 PMIn order to impress the ladies I've decided it is time to get a
flashy new car. My friends at MIT tell me that minivans are the
height of fashion these days. So I want to get a 2004 Toyota
Sienna. I'll either trade in my 1998 Sienna (LE, 42,000 miles,
leather, sunroof, fresh from $2400 of service) or give it away to an
interesting charity (like the last one). I paid $500 over invoice for the last
minivan but the Boston dealers want nearly list price for the new
ones, which leads to abusive $40,000 price tags
Anyone know a good Toyota dealer or a region of the country where
you don't have to donate a kidney in order to get a Sienna? Or
must one wait for the big interest rate rise?
Alternatively, does anyone know whether or not the new 2005 Honda
Odyssey will have openable windows in the middle like the
Sienna? If so, and Siennas remain hard to get, I might simply
wait for the new Odyssey which will presumably be a slightly better
vehicle.

Toyota Patents Car With Feelings
Toyota Patents Car With Feelings
07/28/2004 01:20 PM
It's a whole two days
old, but I still hadn't seen this story in The Times about Toyota's
new patent for vehicles, specifically cars, with feelings. By using a
variety of color lights, moving 'eyebrows,' and varying the
ride-height, the inventors aim to not only allow the car to express
itself to its operator -- sad faces with tears for engine problems,
etc. -- but also to allow the car itself to become an extension of the
driver's emotion, signaling to other cars with winks and wags of its
antenna tails. I have a feeling this will take off, if ever, in Japan
first; that is, of course, unless they have a button for permanent
scowling.

Toyota Humanoid Robot in the Works
12/30/2003 01:38 PMYahoo says that Japan's top carmaker, Toyota plans to develop a
humanoid robot by 2005. Toyota says
they will give more details in January and hopes to display the robot
at a World Exposition tradeshow in 2005. Toyota's robot will be a
worker robot and built for "practical" purposes. A tall order for the
robot includes nurse duties, factory work assistance, and rescue
operations. Toyota even has plans to sell the humanoid robot, unlike
some other Japanese companies that just build humanoid robots as test
platforms and audience entertainers. Toyota even hopes to apply some
of the newly developed technology to their cars.
