Toshiba e830 Launches in Japan, Europe

Toshiba e830 Launches in Japan, Europe 09/14/2004 07:24 AM

e830_toshiba.jpg imageToshiba is releasing the e830 in Europe and Japan today, an update to the popular e800 series Pocket PC. There's not one particular thing that makes it better than its previous version, so much as incremental upgrades all around, including a faster processor, an updated Bluetooth stack, more built-in RAM, and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. But really, why do we Americans care? Toshiba has chosen to ignore the US market for this one - I guess it wasn't as popular as we thought, huh?

PocketPCTools has a comparison chart showing the differences between the two models. (Thanks, James!)

iTunes Europe Launches

iTunes Europe Launches 06/15/2004 08:33 AM

itunes.jpg imageApple iTunes has launched in Europe, or at least the UK, France, and Germany. Although it's really not terribly different than iTunes here, The Register is reporting that many independent UK artists have held out, accusing Apple of giving better deals to major labels than to the independents, meaning artists like Basement Jaxx and Dizzee Rascal won't be on iTunes. Prices in the UK are 79 pence, or 99 euro, which bakes out to around a buck twenty in the US at the moment.

But who cares what we Yanks have to say -- check out some of the European coverage. I'll add to this list throughout the day if I find any more good coverage.
