Both The Official Site and Hasbro have posted details on the five collector glasses that will be available exclusively at Target stores this spring. Nothing we haven't seen before, but it looks like there will be more of these in the future.

The Man In The Glasses Knows If You're
Lying - Or If You Love Him

Remember those silly questions you used to get asked at the airport, where people used to wonder, if you hadn't actually packed your own bags or had accepted a package from someone else - would you actually admit it? Well, those questions are no longer required, but maybe they're going to make a comeback as someone has apparently invented lie-detecing glasses, which they're pitching to airline security agencies as a good way to determine if someone has plans to do any harm to an airline. The same company is also pitching a different version of the same technology that can supposedly indicate whether the person you're talking to "loves" you or not. With both of these products, you might want to question their accuracy levels. The systems are different than traditional polygraphs, by measuring aspects of the voice frequency range - and analyzes such things as pauses and how stressed the voice sounds. They're trying to sell the glasses for more commercial reasons as well - such as the ability to watch the presidential debates and get an indication of how often the politicians are lying (insert old political joke here).

iodata_3d.jpg image/>It may not be as "official" as the 3D flat panel announced by Sharp on the 10th of this month, but IO Data's "Play3D" LCD filter is much cheaper - about $467 USD compared to the Sharp display's $1500 USD price tag.

Seeing as how this is only a filter, you have to wear those goofy glasses, and it's only supposed to work with a certain LCD monitor of IO Data's, I'd say wait for something better to come down the pipe. Still, products such as this being introduced are a good sign that the market may turn to 3D displays, something the adult entertainment industry has been lobbying for years.

RoboChris has the first images of what is rumored to be a target-exclusive series of glasses packaged with action figures. Similar to the vintage Burger King glasses, these are reportedly plastic glasses with all-new designs. Ben Kenobi and Darth maul are shown, and the current rumor mill suggests Grand Moff Tarkin, a Bespin Guard and Wicket as other potential sets. Since no official word has come from Hasbro, just consider this a rumor for now, and join in the debate in our forum.

Learing about K-collector

Learing about K-collector 01/17/2004 11:21 PM
K-Collector @ Wonder Widgets, Inc..

We have recently launched a new K-Collector demo site. This is intended to show prospective customers how K-Collector might look (& be used) in their company. The W4 portal is interesting but too eclectic to really get an idea of how K-Collector is intended to work.

The site in question is for our imaginary company Wonder Widgets, Inc. who are purveyors of fine Java and .NET components. We had a bit of fun making up lots of posts ...it's how I imagine soap opera are written... we've already had one person leave the company!

So, if you've wondered what K-Collector is really all about, please drop me a line and I will organise a short (10-20 mins) demo for you. I'm happy to do this as I need the practice :-)
