19_winerack.jpgThis might be new or it might be old, but it's the first I've seen of it. Canford UK sells this 19-inch rack-mountable wine rack, suitable for 3U hosted server solutions or home audio installations—because there's no place better to store wine than sandwiched between racks of hot servers. How much does a kilogram weigh? Well, less than it used to. That's one of the reasons why Germany's PTB (Physical and Technical Institute) has been attempting to create a virtual kilogram. This was news a while back when they first decided to use silicon. Now they're going to try it with bismuth. (Details in German, English via Babelfish.)

HR Outsourcing: Big companies are making
the shift from in-house to outsourcing
05/31/2004 01:47 PM
According to a new study, the worlds largest companies were more inclined to outsource HR functions in 2003 than in 2002. And if they werent outsourcing at the time of the latest survey, most were thinking about it. Another finding: Those who are outsourcing are, for the most part, happy in their choice. However, while outsourcing increased in many areas, such as 401 K plans and call centers, it decreased slightly in recruiting. Denon ARC-8000 AV Rack

Denon ARC-8000 AV Rack 08/19/2004 07:12 PM

denon_screen.jpg imageWhen size matters, Denon's new AV rack with a deployable 80-inch screen should suit your fancy. Weighing in at 319 pounds, the "ARC-8000" is completely integrated - there is no need for hanging hardware. I'm not entirely sure how you get a 80" screen to go up in the air on its own, but I can assume some sort of steel bar needs to be put in place.

It may cost 472,500 yen, but hey, that's nothing compared to the cost of the projector you need to buy to go with this.
