Also, is it just me or did he hit it once and it didn't fire? I smell a rat in this horse. (Thanks, Scott!)

Free drum loops for GarageBand

Free drum loops for GarageBand 03/19/2005 03:27 AM
iCompositions has partnered with Drums on Demand to give away a package of free loops for GarageBand, Logic, and Soundtrack. The collection, available exclusively for registered users of iCompositions, consists of 90 drum loops, 19 "single hit" sounds for applications such as sound effects, and 9 "loop layers" for building your own drum loops. Unlike other free loop packages, these loops were recorded live by Drums on Demand?s production professionals instead of being created through software-generated instruments. The Drums on Demand free loops package joins the recent AMG+iC package from loops producer AMG as the second batch of loops offered through iCompositions. The previous package contained more than 200 loops, making a total of 296 loops available to registered iCompositions users. iCompositions is a community for users of Apple?'s GarageBand music creation software. Launched just hours after Steve Jobs unveiled the application on January 6, 2004, iCompositions has grown to contain the largest catalogue of GarageBand music in the world with nearly 8500 songs from more than 13,500 artists.

Gartner bangs Microsoft drum again

Gartner bangs Microsoft drum again 12/04/2003 06:02 PM
THE GARTNER Group is predicting that it's not Microsoft which should fear the Linux operating system, but the Unix vendors instead. That will obviously re-assure Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer – they've been worrying needlessly about Linux, and should go for a relaxing holiday in Phuket rather than flying round the world cosying up to governments. According to a report in CXO Today, Gartner made a presentation in Mumbai yesterday which claimed RISC/Unix alliances will crumble in the face of a Lintel (Linux-Intel) onslaught by 2006.

Mad Drew: new Toothpaste for Dinner book

Mad Drew: new Toothpaste for Dinner book 12/12/2003 10:28 AM
Drew, the creator of the Toothpaste for Dinner comics and assorted humoribilia has a new book out, called "Mad Drew: Boyond Coffeedome." It recounts the life of a post-dot-crash temp with a near-autistic inability to understand his surroundings and a deadpan delivery that reminds me of Molesworth, by way of Office Space.
also i remembered how it is sometimes good to work when you can use things like the copy machine and stapler for free! i did not do a lot of copying when i was unemployed but now that i have a job i know that i can write things on a piece of paper and make a hundred copies of them and take them home and put them on telephone poles!! the power is amazing, if i want to tell all the poeple walking down the street to shut up then i can write SHUT UP in large letters on paper. using an office marker for free by the way!!! and then copy it and stable it to telephone poles USING AN OFFICE STAPLER, it is a dream come true!

Because a simplified use-case model can be understood by all project participants, it can also serve as a framework for ongoing collaboration and a visual map of all agreed-upon functionality.
