their way out past the breakers. They're the software vendors

lot of tiny dots...." [MoonWatcher]
RSS was big in 2004, but next year is going
to be something else. It's killing me that I can't say more, but I
know of two major library vendors that will make big announcements
about RSS in 2005. It's going to be a fun year!

Remember Bill Clinton's campaign mantra back in 1993? "It's the
economy, stupid." If Apple had a mantra for 2004, it would be
something along the lines of "it's the iPod, stupid." The last year
saw sales of the iPod explode and eventually overtake Apple's desktops
and laptops. Mac.Ars looks back at Apple's 2004, with its top ten
stories and events of the year.
Apple's profits and revenues rose to levels not seen in nearly a
decade, while they couldn't make enough iPods to satisfy demand. Along
with the good came the bad — lawsuits, and shortages of key
components (like CPUs) which kept products from shipping on time and
even resulted in a nearly three-month gap in the iMac line up.
Check out the top Apple stories of 2004 in this edition of
Mac.Ars.
I'm a People of the Year 200412/28/2004 11:26 AM This is a little bit of old news, as it came out last week while I was
on vacation, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. PC Magazine named
me, Ev, Paul, Ben, and Mena as People of the Year 2004 for our work in
creating Blogger and Movable Type, respectively. My mom posted the
"pictures" from the print version of the article: me, Ev, and pb and
Ben and Mena. It's still difficult to believe that blogging as come so
far, and of course, it wouldn't have if it weren't for the work of
many, many others in addition to the "people of the year". So
congratulations are in order to everyone -- the writers, the readers,
and the tool creators. Indeed it appears as if blogs have finally
arrived, which means 2005 will be the year of the blog backlash. ;)
