Internet Remote Control enables remote monitoring and control of a DialUp connection. It also enables message communication between connected users and remote program execution on the server. Internet Remote Control consists of two programs: IRServer and IRClient. The IRServer is installed on the computer that has Internet DialUp connection, and IRClient is installed on all other computers that need to monitor and control connection. tag-for-remote.jpg imageWhy this is necessary I have no idea, but it appears this device hooks up to one's remote, allowing you to whistle codes into it, which are then translated into an infrared signal that then controls your television (or whatever). Or maybe it calls down a magical bird that pecks at the buttons with its beak, I don't know. Does it really matter? You'll look like a knob using this no matter how it works.

Salling Clicker turns your mobile phone
into a remote control for your Mac
07/20/2004 01:07 AM
Justin Reid of TheFeature has good things to say about a neat-sounding application called Salling Clicker that turns a Bluetooth device into a remote control for your Mac.
One of the really amazing features is that you can see not just ordinary information about the track you've got currently playing in iTunes - artist and song name, track length, etc. - but also the album art, directly on your mobile device.

Apparently it is basically just a V600 in a different shell, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but it certainly isn't groundbreaking, either. It is still in my form factor of choice, though, so even if it can't pass the "able to SSH" test, it at least gets two out of three (integrated QWERTY, flipscreen). I won't be paying $500+ for one, but if you need it, let eBay be your guide.

See what happens when you invite a bunch of Hollywood trash to your product debut, Motorola? Cokeheads done stoled your new phone, onos.
