07/27/2004 04:41 PMIt can safely be argued that Final Draft is the industry-standard
application for script writers. But while Final Draft 7 adds a few
nice features to the program's repertoire, this buggy new version
doesn't live up to its predecessors' good reputation.

01/26/2004 04:10 PMA conclusion to the six year-long European antitrust case against
Microsoft is imminent, a European Commission spokeswoman said on
Monday. "We are concluding the case," said Commission competition
spokeswoman Amelia Torres. Commission antitrust officials have drafted
a final ruling in the case. The ruling may follow the line the
Commission took last August when it issued Microsoft with a statement
of objections. Microsoft was accused of abusing its dominant position
in the software market by obstructing rivals' programs from working
with the ubiquitous Microsoft Windows operating systems.

07/06/2004 10:04 AMOr at least lay on more. Here's the scoop--we need a Perl 6 pumpking,
someone to take on the responsibility of making the Perl 6 compiler
happen. When we started this whole process these many years ago, we
though having one person handle the software end of things was
sufficient, but making perl 6 a reality is a much larger task than
we'd originally figured, as both Perl 6 the language and Parrot the
interpreter have ended up bigger than we'd thought they'd be. Bigger,
in fact, than one person can reasonably manage, especially with a
volunteer project. Hence, the...

WPA-PSK
WSC Guard 4.0 Ships: Win 98, ME, free
WPA-PSK
04/07/2005 05:16 PM
Wireless Security Corporation offers version 4: The
latest version of their security software now supports Windows 98 and
Me in addition to XP and 2000. Better, you can use the software to
make WPA Personal (Pre-Shared Key or PSK) connections from all of
those platforms without paying WSC a cent. That's right: they've just
opened up WPA Personal to the have-nots that Microsoft chose not to
support. (It seems there's competition in offering free security
software: LucidLink released a free
client a few days ago that offers profile and security management
for Windows XP and 2000.)
WSC Guard 4.0's larger purpose, however, is to provide an integrated
client that works with a remote 802.1X server for Windows 98 and SE,
which the company estimates is about 13 percent of all computers
worldwide. That's a nice market to tap.
The latest release offers profile management to control which networks
are preferred a bit better than Windows XP's support, and to extend
profile management to all the platforms now covered. The system now
makes it easier for network administrators to allow guests without the
WSC Guard client installed and to add new users to an existing WSC
Guard subscription more quickly. The software now features automatic
updating, too, removing another administrative burden.
WSC Guard pricing derives from simultaneous active users. One to four
users cost $4.95 per month per user or $49.99 per year; five and more
users are $3.99 per month per user or $44.99 per year.
