3U 19-Inch Rack Mounted Wine Rack

This
might be new or it might be old, but it's the first I've seen of it.
Canford UK sells this 19-inch rack-mountable wine rack, suitable for
3U hosted server solutions or home audio installations—because
there's no place better to store wine than sandwiched between racks of
hot servers. (Thanks, Honda!

Apricorn's USB Bus-Powered External
Harddrive
06/04/2004 10:35 AM
I'm not 100% the picture is actually the right device
(the manufacturer hasn't updated their website), but Apricorn has a
new 20GB external USB harddrive that's main claim to fame is its
ability to be powered off the USB bus instead of requiring a separate
AC adapter. They're using that fact, along with its relatively small
size (4 x 3 0.6 inches) to compete against USB flash memory drives.
And it is a bargain -- Apricorn intends to start selling the 20GB
version for around $200 and the 40GB version for about $280.

Harddrive Industry increasing
warranties?
Harddrive Industry increasing
warranties?
09/01/2004 03:09 PMX-Bit Labs is reporting that major hard drive maker, Maxtor, has
increased the length of time its products are under warranty. Maxtor
are now offering their products under 3 year warranty, up from 1 year.
Apparently, the move is being made after rival Seagate increased their
warranty time from 3 to 5 years.
This action will come as a relief to many, and a surprise. It was only
2 years ago that the major industry players reduced the length of time
their products were under warranty. The move was sparked after a
series of high profile product faults that cost hard drive makers a
lot of money.
In recent years, the hard drive market has matured with many
traditional makers (IBM, Fujitsu) leaving the market. Rapid
technological advancement, coupled with tough competition in the
market, are cited as reasons for the exits. It's expected that other
market players will follow Maxtor and Seagate in increasing the length
of warranty.

Denon ARC-8000 AV Rack
08/19/2004 07:12 PM
When size matters, Denon's new AV rack with a deployable
80-inch screen should suit your fancy. Weighing in at 319 pounds, the
"ARC-8000" is completely integrated - there is no need for hanging
hardware. I'm not entirely sure how you get a 80" screen to go up in
the air on its own, but I can assume some sort of steel bar needs to
be put in place.
It may cost 472,500 yen, but hey, that's nothing compared to the
cost of the projector you need to buy to go with this.
