network-attached storage (NAS) servers under the NAS 100d model name.
Shipping later this month in 160GB (US$499) and 250GB ($599)
capacities, both servers feature 802.11b/g support that acts as a
wireless access point and as a wireless node on a Wi-Fi network,
complete with Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption for secure
data transfers. In addition, they include dual USB 2.0 ports for
adding external hard drives, one 10/100 Ethernet port, 64MB DDR SDRAM
and Iomega Automatic Backup software. Even though the servers run on
Intel Xcale processors, their setup and configurations utilities are
Web-based, so any client can access them.

of its External Hard Drive. The new drives feature FireWire 800 along
with USB 2.0 and FireWire 400. All drives features 7200RPM disk
mechanisms in capacities from 160GB to 400GB. The drives can be placed
horizontally and stacked on top of each other or mounted vertically.
They also feature Kensington security slots. Dantz Development Corp.'s
Retrospect Express is included to enable Mac users to use the drive
for backup and archival. The 160GB drive costs US$199, the 250GB drive
costs $279 and the 400GB drive costs $429. Iomega's Web site was not
updated with information about the new drives as MacCentral posted
this article, but the company indicated in a press release that the
new drives should be available immediately.

USB 2.0 Drive. The new DVD+RW/-RW drive ships with Mac and Windows
software and supports dual-layer recordable (DVD+R DL) DVD media,
enabling users to burn up to 8.5GB per disc. Supported formats include
DVD+R and DVD+RW (12x4x10x write, rewrite, and read speeds), DVD-R and
DVD-RW (8x4x10x), and CD-R and CD-RW discs (40x24x40x). Bundled
Mac-compatible software includes Charismac Discribe and MusicMatch.
The new drive costs US$249.95; it requires Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later
and a G4 or higher with USB 2.0 connectivity. The company's Web site
had not been updated with information about the new drive as
MacCentral posted this article.

line-up: a new Iomega Portable Hard Drive in capacities as high as
100GB and the External Hard Drive Silver Series, with as much as 250GB
of storage. The diminutive Iomega Portable Hard Drive draws power over
a USB 2.0 port and uses a 2.5-inch disk that spins at 4200rpm. It
comes with Iomega Automatic Backup and MusicMatch Jukebox software and
is compatible with all versions of Mac OS X. 40GB (US$119.95), 60GB
($149.95) and 80GB ($199.95) capacities are available now while the
100GB ($299.95) version will ship during the second quarter.
