Doonesbury to be dropped for being "too
controversial"
07/23/2004 02:39 AM
The Continental Features comics syndicate has announced that it will be dropping Doonesbury because the strip is "too controversial" (lately, Trudeau has been using the strip to criticise the Iraq War and Fox News).
The Continental head said he doesn't know exactly when "Doonesbury" will leave the package; he's currently polling clients to see if they want to replace it with "Agnes," "Get Fuzzy," "Pickles," "Zits," or another comic.

Comic Book Gallery Update: Battle For
Theed
06/14/2004 12:48 AM
How cool is this? Last month, I updated our Comic Book Cover Gallery with scans of the 2000 Wizards of the Coast sneak preview comic, "The Battle For Theed" by Michael Stackpole and Daniel Veesenmeyer. This comic served as an introduction to the Invasion of Theed role-playing game. When I posted the original story, I mentioned that I didn't yet have this particular comic for my own collection (the original scans came from one of our old news reports.) Well, I was soon contacted by Daniel Veesenmeyer himself, who not only hooked me up with a copy of the comic, but he even autographed it for me! A new scan of the cover is above, and I've added it to our gallery for The Phantom Menace, when the game takes place. Just goes to show how the Force brings us together.

Free Comic Book Day is here, and while there are a vast selection of comics to choose from, this year's offering includes Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures - Free Comic Book Day 2004 Special by Welles Hartley and The Fillbach Brothers. Drawn in the syle of the animated series, "Hide in Plain Sight" stars Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee and their Clone Army faceing off against the Separatist Forces on the planet Nadiem. Led by General Grievous, the battle droids have the Jedi surrounded for an easy victory. Or is it? Unlike 2002's FCBD edition, this is a full-length comic book, and best of all...it's free!
