Earlier this week Apple and Motorola announ ced the development of a version of Apple's popular iTunes music player software created to run on Motorola cell phones. The software -- expected to make its debut as standard issue on new Motorola mobile handsets planned for release in the first half of 2005 -- will allow Mac and PC users to send music, including songs purchased on the iTunes Music Store, to Bluetooth and USB-equipped mobile handsets. Apple CEO Steve Jobs spoke during the announcement. Now Motorola has posted the video online, in MPEG format.

Yesterday we noted that the MPAA and movie theater owners were whini ng about how much people coming in an taping movies was hurting their business. The obvious response, we pointed out, is to recognize that going to the movies is a social experience. It's not just about the content (though, that is important), but the overall experience. If they improved that, then people would want to go -- even if they could score the same movie off the internet or a cheap DVD bought off the street. While the folks in Hollywood refuse to entertain this idea, someone (anonymously) in the comments to that story pointed to an article in China noting that this is exactly what Chinese movie theaters have done. After years of declining attendance, they finally shaped up and made going to the movies cool again. They improved the overall experience, putting in better equipment and more comfortable seats. They improved the sound and the lighting as well. It sounds like they also made some theaters to be more like bars, to help attract young adults away from traditional bars. Yet the supposedly "creative" movie people in Hollywood insist "nothing can be done" to get people into the theater.

I combined a couple of examples from the book to create Feed Poster, a program that checks a list of newsfeeds, composes a blog post listing the items from those newsfeeds posted in the last X days. You could use it, for example, to post a summary of your del.icio.us links at the end of each day. I considered using David Czarnecki's Java API for del.icio.us, which looks awesome, but I ended up using a simple newsfeed parser and blog client instead.

This career has involved him in countless cartoons, including his own short "Freddy Seymore's Amazing Life" for Nickelodeon and background supervisor for Cartoon Network's "Time Squad." In 1998, Biskup began hosting and curating the Burning Brush auctions, has been in a vast array of exhibitions and has currently launched a line of tee shirts and gift items under the GAMA-GO label.
